Hey guys ok my computer is running on windows ME and i can't play beta 2 without it being at half graphics and low res i can do it with high resoulution but it kinda pushes my computer over its limits well back to the topic i was thinking of upgrading to Windows XP straight from ME because i don't want to waste money on another expensive computer now would upgrading XP from ME solve this graphical problem and make beta 2 run better and i also want it to run beta 3 because beta 3 will have even more complex graphics so Would upgrading to XP From ME solve my graphics problem i no that buying a new computer would be the best way but would it work if i just upgraded i no you can from ME but i don't wanna upgrade for nothing someone please give advice reason why im not puttin my specs is because if Upgrading won't do anything it won't matter because all my drivers are up to date and i will just save up for a new computer so i can just get the latest technology and not have to worry about this im just seeing if theres a less expensive route to correcting this problem all i need is a simple yes or no to make life simple cause im no computer wiz here

Long awnser:
Well, ive noticed that XP increases the stability of fleetops much over ME, but depending on your specs, doesnt sound too good, You probably should be looking at upgrading or buying a new computer. If an upgrade id say upgrade Ram,Processor and Grafpics card.

Short awnser: NO

And what is more:

XP will most certainly need a better system to do the same task just as fast as Win98/ME etc. do. XP needs more ressources, even without running additional software. (I'm wondering if MS has a contract with Intel...)

For example: The thread "How does FleetOps run on your system?" has shown that anything over 256MB RAM is good for FO on Win98/ME systems while XP users need about 512MB RAM.

So, updating your PC from ME to XP will probably have the opposite effect of what you want.

Buying new hardware would be the better choice.

My shorter answer is: No, stay with ME for the time being.

My shortest answer: No.

i think it would be best if you could attach a dxdiag, so we can tell you more about what would be recommended with your system

could you please go to Start - Run type dxdiag click OK, then, on the bottom of the program, click Save All Information... save the file and attach it to the forum please

i prefer WinXP... no matter what system specs.. cause Win ME is just bullshyt...
btw. u CANT update WindowsME with WinXP... WindowsXP is an NT based OperatingSystem, so u need to format the partition, switch it to a NTFS partition, and install it on that clean partition...

Buy a decent graphics card and FO should run just fine.

I have:

PIII 933MHz
384MB RAM
GeForce 4 Ti 4200
Windows ME

No problems with FO.

As I said, XP would make it worse.

The graphics card is your bottleneck. In fact, it is the only reason why you have problems with FleetOps. The TNT2 is a little bit too weak for it.

should i see if i can upgrade it or should i juat buy another graphic card seems like buyin a graphic card is the best way to go

Almost any graphics card on the market will do, even if it's an older one.
The TNT2 is simply outdated. Upgrading won't be possible, as it is the processor and the driver design which are too old. Adding more memory to the card (if possible) wouldn't help.

Get a Radeon or a newer GeForce card and everything should be fine.
