actually loki if the scout gets in place early and the second scout gets in place early too, and both are microd very well u can force your enemy to build stuff far away from starbase.

Feds need sfs to get venture pings, by the time they are building sfs ur scouts are done blocking it anyway.  Hopefully the building isnt close to their starbase tho.

Klinks cant build sensor station til after field research i think, and that doesnt even detect talons

Dom cant build their sensor til after tech lab i think.

Borg can make dodeca if they can get cc and res. But this will cost them the early game strength.

Its an evil strat. Myles no like

Wouldn't you need at least 4 around each moon you wanted to block to make it effective?  Or even 8, because putting the mining stations at "corners" of the moon i don't think would hurt res either.  Just two wouldn't block enough space to make it even annoying...

Still, you seem like you are speaking from experience.

u dont need to block moons. u send in the scout to where they want to build their first research station. then they cant.

the first scout can get their in time to block the research station hopefully. stopping the yard is probably impossible unless they go for both mining first.

cloak detect depends on getting a research facility out usually, so they wont have access to decloak options.

second scout comes out and you can put it on patrol around or something, or micro both. that way they cant place it. they will eventually find a way to place it, but they will be delayed a while. and they may have to put it further away from their base than they are comfy with. so u can kill it easier later :D

of course i consider this very nasty and would never do it. it also requires serious micro.

all this while u have to micro your own base to get your ships out.

Blocking with scouts is a lot more difficult than you make it seem - you'd have to perfectly memorize the shape of every footprint and place the scout exactly in position to make it happen with a fair success rate, not to mention having to exactly predict where your opponent will build the structure in the first place  :whistling:.

the footprints are all rectangles arent they? thats what the red/green boxes are. and if the red box slightly overlaps anything then u cant build. so on duel for example. the most common place for the top position to put a building is to the left or right of the starbase. so a scout can be put there without much difficulty. the point isnt to stop building permanently, just slow it, or force them to build it in a position which is vulnerable. u have to pay a lot of attention if u wanna watch their constructor move towards where its gonna build. then overtake with the scout. it requires micro to block for long. but i'm sure its doable, not that anyone would want to do it its evil :pinch:

the problem is sometimes u place your scout badly, and accidentally block :( then they shout at you for blocking lol

The footprints are rectangles, but being just anywhere in the rectangle will not block it, especially if you've already selected an area to build and laid down the ghost image :) . In many cases you can be right under the build zone and not block it then ^-^

ive never seen it build if any of the rectangle isnt clear. im talking about before they click. the scout makes the footprint red so it wont build. thats how finding cloaked ships with building footprints works.
