Personally, I like to spam Rheinns while I tech up to Tavaras :D

1 Tavara can be produced for around the same price as 4 basic Rhienns and with less construction time - of course you could get 8 or more Rhienns out before you even can get the first Tavara built.
In terms of cost effectiveness though a Tavara would eat 4 Rhienns for breakfast.

Sure, spamming Rhienns is a better strategy, but then its not a Tavara rush.  :D

Next up - Dominion V-15 Rush

I could be mistaken but I thought a rush was something that took place in under 5-6 minutes from the beginning of the game :P

Actually a rush is just teching up really fast (usually neglecting weaker ships as well)

Well, just my opinion here, but I think a rush is a tactic whereby you ignore a well rounded strategy and instead focus on achieving a specific objective as soon as possible and accept the risk of being lacking in other areas.

The most effective rushes are probably those that are ready within about 5 minutes because it gives you more chance to surprise your opponent.  One of the reason why K'tinga rush is a good strat is because if you do not pay attention early to what your opponent it doing you could mistake his start BO as a standard BO.  On the other hand, a slow rush (like the Tavara rush) is bloody obvious as you have to sacrifice ships and resources to get those research stations up early.

rushing doesnt need tech.

Scube rush is possible, if u sacrifice some mining and energy nodes u can get more early dps, but u will be lacking for a while.

Um whats the point of a rush if you're opponent has more units and offense than you lol?

Name me one rushing strat from the guide that skips/neglects weak ships while you tech up?

None, but a bad rush strat is still a rush.

None, because the guide isn't going to list bad rush strats.

The term Rushing is most commonly applied to many video games depending on the genre or context of use. It is analogous to the blitzkrieg in real-world ground warfare, in which speed and surprise are used to overwhelm and/or cripple an enemy before they achieve effective buildups of sizable defensive and/or expansionist capabilities.

In real-time strategy (RTS), real-time tactical (RTT), squad-based tactical shooter (TS), and team-based first-person shooter (FPS) computer games, a rush is an all-in fast attack or preemptive strike intended to overwhelm an unprepared opponent.

By the time you would have a Tavara out (roughly 16 minutes into the game), the enemy would already have an effective buildup of ships and defenses.

tavara rush is actually more of: "rush to tavara" rather than rushing with tavaras. there is no real speed involved with getting tavaras out

then wouldn't it be a tech-race?

your opponent doesnt have to rush to high tech tho. so its not a race. if both players get tech as fast as possible then its a tech race. aka a 3 player ffa

I tried this strategy and it worked great against Feds on Hard, less so against the Doms who came in wave-after-wave from the start.

Totally mad, and also slightly brilliant idea.
