:'( :'( :'(  NOOOOO    3.1.3 killed Silent Resolve.  I can fire while cloaked, but it does no damage!    :'( :'( :'(

On a more positive note, while uncloaked...the Serkas appear to be doing double damage with this researched.

To be true, Silent Resolve is not worth the research...one single Torpedo does almost no damage and once you get 5-10 Serkas...it does not matter if you destroy 1 or 2 miners on instant.

Would The Shrike Passive (Weapon-Disable) Scratch one of those turrets?  The guide seems pessimistic, but I'm off to the 'Lab' anyways.

Special EDIT:  Those Turrets Are... Tough.  I threw together a few of the earliest fleets you might face a turret with, and let's just say it didn't go so well for a lot of them... (I took some pretty pictures of what happened too!)
PIC1:  Three Shrikes Go Looking For Miners
PIC2:  "Haha!  What A Weird-Looking Platform!"  (Then All The Shrikes Died)
PIC3:  Two Leahval's Try Their Luck Next.  (Managing To Scratch Off 25% Shielding)
PIC4:  Getting 'Frig-ated' Finally
AND:  Two Frigates Limp Home Cloaked, One Explodes After Losing Systems, And The Last One Is Able To Cloak In Time & Hide From The Monsoons That Came Looking For It, With Half Its Shields Gone, No Less.

phaser turret is strong, nothing in the very early game will scratch it. annoyingly the one unit that seems suited for harassing, the brel, is destroyed in seconds by this beast.

Yep.  Phaser turrets are SUPPOSED to be very strong deterrents because Feds can't cloak :).  They don't have the same kind of offensive map control so they NEED to have an easily placeable and strong turret they can put up to repel raids from cloaking races.

The Phaser plat DID get it's ablative Armor removed.  That's one of the key things here because it still does a lot of damage, but it's not longer the damage soaking beast that it was.

The whole purpose of this thread was asking how to deal with them.  To Summarize the responses the best ways are as follows:

--  Ignore it.  Destroy miners either from out of range or remove your vessels before they perish.

--  Engage it with specialized units specifically suited to destroy turrets/reduce damage from long range sources.

--  Since Romulans were in question here:  #1 is the best choice while you eat miners from outside it's cover.  Once you've got the resources and flexibility you can choose to take on the turret with either artillery, tanking Generix/Rhienns, disabling it with Cehlear's, or by brute force with Big D's.

There are lots of ways to do it :).  Pick one that works best for the game you're playing.

How can you say it's not worth it (pre the 3.1.3 patch)?  Even in the current incarnation, a group of three Serkas can take-down a Platform in about 4 volleys...without using Silent resolve.  In 3.1.2, that effect was even quicker since you could fire an extra round at the onset of battle.

Drrrrrr wrote:one single Torpedo does almost no damage

True, but who in their right mind would take a single Serka into battle?  In use, it takes about 9 torpedo hits to take out the shields on a platform.  Once the shields are down two or three hits will finish it.

Silent Resolve is one shot, that many Serkas (to make silent resolve kill something) is quite a lot to devote your res to, and Serkas are absolutely resource devouring monsters. You need to decloak to recharge it. And it wasn't even worth it in 3.1.2, there was a bug that made it decloak the Serkas, which somehow got replaced by a bug that makes it do 0 damage .

Respectfully, I disagree :).  I think that if you've got 3 or more Serkas it's totally worth it.
