Uh...what about every other Ferengi ever? Quark, Rom, the dozens of others you see on the show who are almost human-height...is Nog just a little person?

Almost Human height (about 2 thirds, usually)
No Human-height
I don't see any differences there... About 2/3 or 3/4 Human height isn't Human height.

So those pygmy guys in Africa are not human, just because their average height is about two thirds the human norm?
Step carefully on this one.

Pygmies are not Ferengi... Is there any actual point to that one?

We are talking about the average height here, not 8-9 foot tall people, nor 2-4 foot people (hey, my great grandfather was only 4 foot 5 so there
). I think generalizations are ok, as we are saying the "average Ferengi" versus the "average human".

The PC Police strike again! That's not even close to what he said...
And my question/point has yet to be answered. I will concede that Ferengi seem slightly shorter than humans, on average, but not like Nog...he must be unusually short. I kept expecting him to get taller or something (at least in the episode I mentioned).

Who says Nog is the average Ferengi? The Albino wasn't the average Klingon either (or was he even Klingon...)

on average they seemed shorter. in the TNG series they were shorter although they were walking around with slumped shoulders and stuff so it was hard to gauge it. quark is short, rom isnt as short but was smaller than sisko, the grand negus sp? was short. so it makes sense.
the problem with the pygmy argument is that pygmies arent indicitive of the average human. there might be clan of ferengi that are 8 ft tall.
im also curious how exactly having the ferengi alliance join the federation in the new game star trek online is supposed to work out. obviously you get extra resources and the ferengi are certainly technically sophisticated, however i would be worried about them selling information to starfleets enemies for latinum.

The Ferengi joined? Ferengi in Starfleet are most likely like Nog; ones who go against what is considered 'normal' in the Alliance.

But he's Rom's son...unless he inherited it from his mother (I don't remember if he mother was ever even mentioned...I skipped most of the Quark-centric episodes).

@tyler.......i mean in the startrek online game. i was reading something about how the ferengi alliance joined up with starfleet. that would make me a bit nervous.
@drpreceptron. its been a while but i think rom was only a bit taller than quark and it would have been really weird to have another actor portray nog in the future........he has a very distinctive voice and style that would be difficult to copy.
one of my fave episodes was "the magnificent ferengi" its a completely silly episode in the style of the tribbles episode in TOS. it was a bit of humor added to the otherwise glum war story.

Yeah, but still...they could have done something to make him look taller. Heels, fancy camera angles, or even cgi...could have been done.

Heh yeah that actually was a pretty good episode. It was fun seeing Jeffery Combs playing a Ferengi.

Yeah, "the magnificent Ferengi" was funny, watched it quite often. I liked the DS9 epsiodes when they just made something funny, just like the Baseball episode.
My favourite Character in DS9 is Garak, too. Dukat was cool until he went mad. Afterwards he was nothing more than ennoying. Damar was also funny, at the beginning he was such a silly stereotype, and then he became what Dukat should have become in my eyes
.
Weyoun... I loved it when they killed him... whenever they killed him

Agree with previous statement
Garak is cool, his misterious past and the way he set friendship with Bashir, he could be the perfect Cardassian, if he wasn't so "human" due to his exile. Like Spock could be the "perfect" vulcan if he wasn't so linked with human way of thinking...
I liked a lot the discussion from Bashir and Garak about the "infinite sacrifice", that book that Garak loved and Bashir found "annoying"...
Dukat is great as a villain, so streched between good and evil until the very end of the series... Liked him a lot too
