The only Problem with the Movie is that the most of the "Fans" just brought this word to far back to it's roots "Fanatic"... they're so damned fanatic that they want to burn everyone that doesn't spread THEIRE Way of seeing Trek and theire words of Trek... and the only right Star Trek is the Star Trek they want to see, the Star Trek THEY imagine in theire little Fanatic Heads... they're not open to anything else than THEIRE View... so it's useless to argue with those, that want to burn, hate and insult everyone that's not spreading theire way of Trek...

I'm fine with the new movie, just not fond of the ships look.

...which, as I've said before, leads me to conclude that Abrams is incompetent, not in control of his own project, a flaming hypocrite, or some combination of the three... Also, based on what Jordan Hoffman says in this article...

Trek is Dead - Long Live Trek | Movie Blog | UGO.com

...Abrams doesn't actually know anything about Star Trek and cares about as much... Given that and what we've seen so far (new Enterprise design, USS Kelvin with "0" in front of registry, etc.), as I said, no one on Abrams' production team, least of all the Lost creator himself, has the slightest clue what they're doing... I mean, come on, I've never seen Lost, d'you think I'd be qualified to make a Lost movie? :pinch:

Here's what Bernd Schneider of Ex Astris Scientia had to say on the new Enterprise, by the way... I couldn't agree more with most of it...

to be honest, i like the design... at least the front part of it.. the nacelles look like a ugly kitbash of a starship and a old cadillac.. but beside that, the trailer was entertaining.
plus, it has been stated in an interview, that this trek is in a different timeline, cause the villain came back in time to change it. so every other trek movie/show/etc will still be canon and is not affected by it at all.

I like that part, too. Only that part. I can't help but wonder why they used the movie-era saucer; Wouldn't an early, forced ship building still use pre-TOS era design?

I enjoyed Nemesis, I enjoyed (most) of Enterprise, and I'll enjoy this movie.  Trek is something I've grown up with, and nothing like this is going to take that away from me.
