im not a wow player but im sure it only cost about 7.99 a month not 10 a month.

I was a wow player and the monthly sub was 15$ per month or the reocurring sub. Im from the US so may be different elsewhere.

$15 a month is the standard MMO sub fee.

That game had potential...



What killed it for me that you can choose to be only Fed or Klingon but on the official/factions menu theres 7 races : Dominion,Borg,Undine ( 8472 ),Cardassian,Romulan,Federation and Klingon.This killed the title for me,I heard the plans that Roms should be made playable but it stil feels like major cheat aggainst the player.Any proper game development company would make all these races playable from start.Another fatal thing is that everybody must start as feds and with his skill got bigger he can choose to change race from avaliable ones.


This Star Trek Online is one big fail,Eve online is so much better.

ofcourse it would be difficult,trying to sell game in same territory as WoW and Eve is well... difficult

i don't like STO because they Fluff people who bought the 300 USD sub pack when it first released and you need to buy extra expansions for "cooler" stuff even though you're subbing... (i thought the point of subbing was to get every access to everything cuz your sub counts against you even if you're not playing...)

Honestly the lifetime sub pack didnt really have anything all that cool in it. And I like the fact that I can get access to any of that crap if I want to through micro transactions. It is available to you, but like almost every game that comes out these days, if you drop the big bucks early on they give you extra goodies.

honestly i think you will find i am a lifetime member and haven't played it for ages apart from the odd visit to see changes...

the game is a total bore and everything is too easy with no creativity... set all your space weapons to autofire bus specials, have some minor control and hope your enemies aint too low so down as you'll have to cockscrew your way down to get them... Ground combat isnt even worth my time insulting, apart from the fact its boring, every level especially on generated routine missions are just generic, im talking the sets by the way, everything is generic with maybe the odd colour change and doesnt make sense half the time for the race it implies, oh lets not get on to the ridiculously high walls, the stupidly spaced out bridges because the camera can't hand small spaces...
The graphics are poor as well for the time and the models rough...
this was my biggest waste of money ever and was only fun during the first beta when fighting was a challenge before the nerfed it all and made it easy, even with the difficulty slider, all it does it make it take longer to kill them, doesnt make them any better or stronger weapon wise.

Now back on topic. I can see what you mean redman, but they are improving it. It is getting better, and they are reworking things (eg ground combat and exploration). So maybe give it a try some time soon.

lets wrestle this thread back on topic, it probably hasnt fulfilled it's purpose yet.

i dont like star trek online, i disagree with the idea of making people pay a subscription.

i rarely pay for games, but with fleetops i am willing to donate.

and that's mainly BECAUSE they don't expect or demand it.

I just wanted to say that there is a trial avaliable for sto that everyone should try out as it is free, and everyone can join the fleetops fleet.
