Another fan film project, this one is aiming to produce five hour-long episodes. Based in the future of the JJ-verse, it's aiming to tell a story of its own. I wouldn't have paid it much attention, except for the teaser they've released:
Yep, set on the Enterprise-C, using a model by Tobias Richter based on Andrew Probert's original design for the Ambassador class. So, one to bookmark...

It was just a beauty pass.
The design of the ship is also extremely TNG. Personally, I like that, but it is not very JJ-verse.

Hey, gotta get my fix of starship porn any way I can! And it's nice to see the Richter/Probert Ambassador take flight, too.

LOL, though I agree. I've always thought this version of the Ambassador Class was infinitely better than the one we see in the episodes. It's much more graceful looking as the nacelles/pylons on the show version were pretty rediculous.

They got away with calling that a teaser???? wtf

I still like the version that we saw originally in "Yesterday's Enterprise" though. The Richter/Probert version feels much closer to Galaxy than Excelsior, while the Probert/Sternbach/Jein shooting model has a design sensibility that is closer to being a true intermediate step.
Memory Alpha's article on the Ambassador shooting model is well worth a read, with some good comments from Sternbach about how the design came together, including those oversized nacelles.

Hey, no problem. I certainly understand. More a criticism of them than you.
It is actually a pretty nice looking ship, unlike the TNG Ambassador. That is terribly ugly.

i like this version more than the original, tho it didnt give any indication of how the show will look. have they done anything before?

If you've read the site I've linked in the OP, then you know everything I do about this project!

well its hard to tell from the description how much they have to put behind this for the sets/ props/ costumes and locations. the concept art looks cool but it will be interesting to see how it turns out on screen. if its anything like the ship then the cg will be awesome.
tho the characters list has a 9 year old.. kids that age on tv either work well or spoil it so who knows how that will turn out.
but the description doesnt sound like a 9 year old.. sounds a bit odd tbh

More importantly, that nine year old is Wesley Crusher.

wow, that's awful. tng did a lot of good things, but wesley crusher wasn't one of them. such a poor mary sue character. i don't see why any fan project would want to revisit one of star trek's mistakes. what next, a remake of threshold?

actually i wouldn't mind that. i agree that shades of grey was the worst ep of trek made, but its biggest problem was that it was a clip show (i hate clip shows), but if fans "remade" it, then they'd have to film all new content for it. it wouldn't be a clip show then.
if they reused trek footage to make shades of grey, then they aren't "remaking" the clip show, they're just "making" it. a clip show of a clip show.
the story still wouldn't be great, as not much story exists as most of the original ep was wasted on the clips. but better than threshold. there's no way to salvage anything from threshold, the basic plot starts wacky and goes downhill fast from there.

Yeah, that one is really not even worth watching. It was a clip show because of some writer strike or something, right? Not that they wanted to write a show that way. Still does not change how awful it was. Why re-do it though?
