here's a link to their (technically impressive, but poorly designed) website:
http://stexcalibur.com/

it's a fan made game, under development. they are building their own engine, which is why it's taking a lot of time. it's been going a while, don't hold your breath.

Thanks to all for the info :)

That looks really good  I'm just always a bit uncertain about such large-scale projects.
Sometimes those seem very promising, but then vanish into thin air...

On their own forums it seems a little quiet at the moment, however their dev-team still release videos about progress and new features on youtube. They're also always looking for helping hands on the development.

vapourware can be fan made too. i think we've got about as much chance of seeing ST: excalibur as we have of seeing half life 3 or portal 3 or TF 3.

i don't think it will finish, i'd love for it to get finished, but they've set themselves a big task. i think the most likely end is that they'll eventually have real life things to deal with and stop the development.

Then I hope other people in the ST community will carry the torch. They've already made so much progress that it would be a shame to see it all wasted.

You only say this because you don't really know the people that are putting this together. I know for a fact that they can handle this and that we will all have this game on our hardrives sometime next year.;)

Old-school gaming does rock alot more than always getting "the new shit"... see Command & Conquer after Tiberian Sun...
See The Elder Scrolls after Daggerfall and Morrowind (Oblivion doesn't utilize the really cool spells, Skyrim doesn't even have a spell-creating service anymore). Solution? DOSBox and Fleetops... whenever the teasing newsposts stop and turn into fun reality :D

tiberian sun is the only C&C i've ever played, and i thought it was shit. from what i've heard from C&C fans, later instalments got even worse with EA getting involved, so i don't think i'll enjoy them either.

i've never played skyrim (or any elder scrolls) i don't enjoy RPG as a genre at all. classic or new.

Tiberian Sun is generally acknowledged to be the worst of the C&C series :hmmm:

You know, I loved Dune 2, but could never get on with any of the Command and Conquer games.

Fans that liked Tiberian Sun generally liked the story, characters, and lore. Tiberian Sun is where the general lore and capabilities of tiberium really became established after the near complete lack of information in the first game. What a lot of fans didn't like was EA doing things like changing the very nature of tiberium, changing Kane's characterization, etc. And then there's Generals, which is basically a completely unrelated game that they slapped the C&C name on to increase sales.
