That's actually not unheard of with the Nebula Class. At least one appearance, namely First Contact, showed that Triangle-structure Nebula Class have a launcher above the Deflector.

yup, also the phoenix had torps from somewhere. presumably the weapons pod neb has those launchers too, just they prefer the giant launcher.

Which means the Nebula with sensor pod in fleet ops needs a photon tube :p .
Balance it by having use of the sensor pod disable phasers and reduce the rate of fire of the photons, or if it gets a bust fire, then it goes to single fire whilst sensors are active.

no it doesnt. by the same logic the sabre should get torps, not all fed ships need to use torps in combat. im perfectly happy with sensor nebs not using torps. maybe during war time their torps are redistributed to more combat worthy ships.

Yeah, my only gripe about the Nebula was resolved. Feds are HUGE fans of Phaser Arrays, not such big fans of pulses. Nebbie has it's array, I'm happy.
I'm fine with the other pulses, mind you, they fit. The Defiant needed them in order to wedge that amount of firepower into that little of a ship. Possibly something to do with sustained heat buildup if not firing in short pulses.
The Phalanx was designed specifically to use them. Pretty much everything else, barring the turrets, is the fed-favored beam array.

I read somewhere that the nebula was a sience vessel, yet in wartime it's sensor pod (the triangle thing) could be replaced with a torpedo launcher.
I dont know but whenever I play fleet ops I feel like I'm in wartime. However sensors should also have a combat advantage some way
