Which of the Star Trek films is your favorite and why?
First Contact, because it is one of only 2 times TNG Borg are seen (minus the Queen).

Star Trek: The Motion Picture
The drydock and klingon attack scenes are absolutely amazing and of course it's the first movie. Started a new era of Star Trek ...

Vote: Nemesis
Reason: One of few movies where you'll see Feds and Rommies on the battlefield. (And the first when fighting together)

Nemesis had good ship fighting, but the boarding was nothing compared to the Borg's attempt. If Riker turned the lights up, the Remans would have never stood a chance...
I don't know whether the idea of fighting a dark-loving race in the darkened lighting of Red Alert was more to do with the crew or the directors... I think I'll blame Mr Troi (best part of Nemesis).

Overall, Nemesis. Awesome ship-to-ship combat, one of the few times a collision doesn't obliterate a ship, and Riker FINALLY gets his own ship to screw up royally
Obviously, the one part I didn't like was Data's sacrifice..

Starfleet needs to be more on the attack, ships like the Soverign class did okay but the Remans dam near took her out, I think its time the Federation understands that even her allies consider her weak, its time to not worry about what others think, but worry about your survival. I think deep down the Klingons feel they are babysiting the Federation. When i say weak i dont mean like the Cardassians, i mean they need to look more to combat then exploration. In Yesterdays Enterprise, it was stated The war is going very badly for the Federation far worse than what is known. In DS9 if it wasnt for her Klingon allies, and even Romulans how would Starfllet have survived? this is why combat needs to be the main focus. I think in TNG they made Starfleet much to weak. War is the continuation of politics, it must be enforced to ensure ones survival, the Federation must show that it wont abide to stupid agreements that hinder the ablity to build ships, with the best possible technolgy at hand. I think most of the films give you the impression that Starfleet will give in .

No they didn't, god ships don't really count. They also don't see the Federation as weak, they've proven they are not and that their patience has limits several times.
They are only considered 'weak' by the most arrogant and over-confident super-races, like the Borg or Dominion.

The Undiscovered Country. For the Original Crew... The writing was superb, just the right amount of action, General Chang was an awesome villian. And overall I think that it did a great job of setting the pace for TNG and wrapping things up for the original crew beautifully. On a side note Generations should never have been made.

Emotions? o.o
If you mean the out of character-Picard firing a rifle while screaming to the edge of his lungs on the holodeck...
Well. As far as the TOS-crew-movies go, I most liked "The voyage home". It was an interesting setting for the Enterprise-crew to be in, I loved the moments Spock and Kirk had in San Francisco and also the supporting characters and the general message of the movie are very much of a real Star Trek-formula based idea to me.
For the TNG-movies... take the maiden voyage of the Enterprise B from Generations, the vulcan landing from First Contact and the mid-part of Nemesis and that's all I like about that franchise. If you judge the TNG-movies of what you have seen on TV they are really not that much of quality.
Also they weren't up to film-level until Nemesis. Each character got forced screentime and from Generations to the beginning of Nemesis the most moments in the movies as well as the plots are forced and artificial. From the reason Data wants to stick the emotion chip in, to the marriage between Riker and Troi. There's only TNG-momentum in (small!) parts (like the vulcan landing).

Well, I felt his unresolved feelings got out there - just like in the episode after Best of Both Worlds

Yeah, and the writers also wanted us to swallow that there was a Borg-individual-queen in the Command cube the whole time *cough* tagged on
Also, we had Picard often enough in scenes with the unresolved feelings (TNG: Family, I Borg). And by the way; the scene in the ready room which is called "legendary" by many fans is just a copy of Picard yelling at Guinan when she asked him to talk with "Hugh". So what's that new about it?
It still seems forced and artificial.
The only scenes in First Contact which were good (besides the one I already mentioned) in my opinion were; the first Borg attack-scenes in the Enterprise's interior (this really was executed well, especially before we actually saw the Borg) but lateron the movie is just nothing else than shooting at Borg.
And... don't get me started on the Borg-Queen... she's in fact nothing but tagged on in the last minute to give the Borg something new.

With Guinan, he didn't break his little ships.
