Does this seem strange to anyone else?

Why would the Borg - the race bent on achieving perfection - the race that gets a boner from making mathematicaly-shaped vessels-

WHY would they come up with an emblem that's a total G.I. Joe-esque design?

Image

Why not a Green shape?  A mathematical image of perfection>

Why not the god-damned shape in my avatar, damnit?  :D

Take it up with TNG. The symbol may have a meaning to them.

Ex Astris Scientia - Galleries - Gamma and Delta Quadrant Emblems

Seems to mainly be a symbol of the Borg led by Lore, but also found in the collective.

EDIT:Ninja'd by Tyler
EDIT2:Damn those images of on the Borg ships are low-res.

maybe the first race that was part of the borg used that symbol, and the first borg thought they may need a symbol one day to identify themselves and chose something they already had.

I always assumed it was a claw-like hand, looked at it again saw it could also be a sphere through a transwarp conduit and then it occured to me it could also be a representation of the omega particle.  imo its just a menacing hand/claw.

Which is totally uncharacteristic for a race that lacks an individual consciousness.

Just seems silly to me that a race based on the pursuit of perfection would somehow choose to have a "CLAW THAT LOOKS UBERLEETBADASSOMFGROFLMFAOLOLLIPOP"

wait, wait!! It's a hand grabbing a world! Taking ownership of it, the hand it menacing. Then that makes perfect sense when you look at it that way.

But the 'planet' is the palm...

A Symbols meaning isn't obvious very often, you'd normally need an inside perspective to know about it.

TBH idk why they would have a symbol at all it seems like they would have no use to them. Either you are borg or you are not and you will soon be assimilated. :borg:

A symbol indentifies you to others, and the Borg have no concern for keeping their identity secret. Collective or not, they're still an empire.

I would think that cube thats assimilating your planet would be enough.

They only assimilate after identifying themselve and investigating, assuming you're worth the trouble in the first place.

Yes but we are getting off topic... All im saying is that it really doesnt make since for them to have a symbol. They dont really care what you know them by all that matters is their quest for perfection. And weather or not they have a symbol doesnt take away from it or add anything to it.

But at one point, before they were the monolithic combination of thousands of species, there may have been more of a point to the symbol.  Maybe the queen just likes it.  There's no apparent reason for it, but there's no reason against it either.

That shape has the resemblance of a tesseract. Reminds me of the motion picture movies Cube.
I agree, maybe with a dark shade applied to it, could make into a nice Borg insignia.
