Who wins Borg vs Replicators?

Want to say something off topic? Something that has nothing to do with Trek? Post it here.

Yeah, and don't forget, "the weak shall perish"

Couldn't wait for them to suicide once Voyager discovered how to target nanites at them  :whistling:

And didn't they figure all that out by using their paraphasic scanners while emitting a baratonic heisenburg modulating pulse while using a multispectrum warp field?

No, they just put more power into the Main Deflector and the answer jumped out at them...

I have to go with the Borg on this one, whether up against Milky Way or Pegasus type replicators. Don't get me wrong, I love Stargate and the replicators are probably the best enemy in the show (not to mention they're kinda' cute when not swarming you), and they are certainly no better than the Borg as far as philosophy goes, but I don't think they stand a chance against the Borg. Main reason, the Borg would just assimilate them; since the replicators are already cybernetic, a take over would be easy, especially considering how easily they can assimilate other computer technology. I figure that once they assimilated one they would easily be able to take control of the whole swarm. In fact it might be extremely easy for the Borg to assimilate the replicator queen since the queen usually installs itself in a stationary location making it susceptible to external attack. This would be especially true in a Borg vessel which is probably just crawling with nanoprobes; it would be easy for the Borg to just latch on to it with a couple tubes and cables and assimilate it. As far as human form replicators (Milky Way and Pegasus) go, they would probably even more susceptible to nanoprobes as a single Borg nanoprobe could probably instigate a corruption of all the native replicator nanites.

Now you could argue that the replicators would try to take complete control of the area surrounding their queen, but it is more likely that the Borg would just adapt and regain control. Since the replicators have never really encountered a race like the Borg, or if they have, individual swarms do not seem to share information or connect through a hive mind like the Borg, they would be wholly unprepared for this ability and would be hard pressed to keep up. And, since the replicators rely primarily on physical attacks and only take on the physical properties of what they eat, not the technological ones (as far as we know), they would be highly susceptible to physical attacks which the Borg are quite capable of delivering while the Borg are far more robust and could quickly adapt new shields and regenerate.

Now, I don't know that the Borg, having assimilated the replicators would be poping out cubes like mating rabbits, but they might be able to develop ship eating nanoprobes, or use Borg replicators as a new means of attacking a vessel. On the up side this would mean that the Federation's TR-116 rifle might become very popular (refer to DS9 episode "Field of Fire").

welcome to the forums Atlantisbase, i can see there is another Century class fan :D

Honestly I dont watch enough Stargate to judge this. However by your responce it seems you do, while i do have the Startrek encyclopedia to go by for the borg.

I do agree with your result. :borg: :borg: :assimilate:

Why thank you, glad to be here; I must confess though, I signed up just so I could put my two cents in on this thread :sweatdrop:, not that I plan on leaving now. And for the record I do positively love the Century class; it's the perfect blending of the size and power of the Sovereign class with the wonderful, graceful, elongated curves of the Intrepid class; sheer genius. Translation: it kicks ass!  B) :D

Ehrm. Anyway. Yes, I am a faithful Stargate fan as well as a faithful Trekky, and based on what is presented in the canon material for both universes, the replicators will be owned.

Actually idk about your theory it will come down to who controls who. Because the replicators can stick their hand in peoples head and borg can use their collective mind to hack things. But the replicators and the borg are really not as different as you might believe they really all do have a collective thought from what i understand.

Although if Daniel Jackson can take control of the swarm from Replicarter and was only unable to control them because of his human-sized brain, imagine how long the Collective would be able to control them for  :borg:

Ah, but the replicators have never attempted to control a massive collective mind like the Borg, as far as we know. We have only ever seen them use this technique on a single human, if they tried it on a Borg drone, they would be receiving information from the trillions of minds of the Borg, they would probably be overwhelmed. Which is not to mention that the Borg could just terminate the affected drone and problem solved.

On top of that the replicators would be attempting to enter a body teeming with nanoprobes which would probably try to work their way into the infiltrating entity and assimilate it.

Any way you look at it, it looks like it's game over for the replicators.

what if they join forces!  they relize their both nano technology, but slightly diffrent and they both destroy the galaxy!  :pinch:

gameover for everyone else
