Wow didn't wan't to say that Galaxy Quest is bad.
It was just the point that, when i watched the new movie, it was not feeling like Star Trek.  :sweatdrop:

Someone seriously voted for ST5?  Wow...

FC gets my vote.  Excellent acting, stunning visual effects, wonderful script, what more could you ask for?

I'm really surprised that Wrath of Kahn's and The Voyage Home's scores are so low...

FC was a shame cause it could have been awsome, itstead it was retarded up with stuff like the sphere that couldnt even glass a SMALL part of a planet....

well the sphere was an escape pod mini sphere. With the time travel device presumably being big.

And i prefer to ignore the silly tos reference to 1 low tech ship being strong enough to take out a continent. I prefer to go by ds9: the die is cast, where a whole fleet of 24th century battleships were needed, and still couldnt destroy the entire crust in 1 volley.

Combine that with the fact that this mini sphere was designed for running away not fighting, and its understandable it wouldnt be that well armed.

I do agree the vfx dept should have made the explosions look bigger than grenades, but i doubt the borg had long enough to trash the whole area, they didnt get many shots off before picard followed them through (why did no other ships try help?)

Not to mention that their shields were down from the effects of the temporal vortex.

Agreed.  Not that I'm trying to invalidate TOS' canon status, but the details of the Star Trek universe weren't fully developed then - it took until around TNG's 3rd or 4th season to really nail them down.

Where did they ever say 1 ship could do that? I only remember them saying as Constitution could destroy an entire planetary civilization. That very different and far smaller than what DS9 did.

Constitution class - Memory Alpha, the Star Trek Wiki

says destroy half a continent with only "directed energy weapons".

i think that was an overstatement of a connie's power.

It also mentions bombardment, which would imply multiple shots over a period of time. It's not that unreasonable, considering weapons of the time had already been shown to practically reduce Nukes to stones by comparison.

One shot would be overblown, but bombardment isn't that bad.

it actually says concentrated bombardment, which is, well, concentrated, not spread out.

i think 1 starship (especially of that time) taking out half a continent is too much.

entire fleets doing so is more believable.

Yea but I was reading a TOS book where they used 1 special torpedo to destroy an entire planet
