The Mountshining Class was not fighting tactical cubes at that transwarp hub. Just standard cubes. The Tactical cubes have always given the Mountshining Class some trouble even after weapon modifications and ship upgrade. Although with the new shields, the Mountshining Class is more likely to win now.
And, after Wolf-359, the Tereanans started upgrading their weapons and shields. Especially to prevent the Borg tractor beam from draining the shields and to get the chroniton weapons through the Borg subspace field. Plus, the 3 ships that did battle at Wolf-359 didn't really have a clue on what they were up against. And were not armed with anything other than chroniton phasers and torpedoes. The Mountshining destroyed the tactical cube by firing a couple of singularity torpedoes at it. The chroniton weapons hardly had any effect at the time. But now have a pretty good effect because of the modifications that have been made to the chroniton weapons between 2367 and 2403.
I made up the Trakans somewhat as gag characters. I posted on what they do mainly to see your reaction to them.

The Mountshining has conducted several tests of the multi-layer regenerative shielding and have found that it protects against chroniton weapons as well as non-chroniton weapons. The multi-frequency shielding doesn't protect against chroniton weapons, but protects against most other weapon types. Both technologies greatly reduces the damage received by enemy fire. Since the multi-frequency shielding doesn't protect against chroniton weapons, the Tereanan Empire has started research on how to combine the multi-layer regenerative shielding with the multi-frequency shielding. This should make the shields next to impenetrable.
If we succeed, then the Tereanan Empire, along with the Federation will win this war by a landslide. And the Mountshining has been sent back to the Delta Quadrant to try to negotiate with these Nekriiti. We are still curious on whether or not they are allies with the Borg. The Borg database is still being examined, but we're running into more and more advanced encryption codes as we analyze the database. Obviously, the Borg seem to have adapted to our ability to infiltrate the collective.

The relative success of the computer hack tactics has prompted Starfleet to rethink the use of nanotechnology, but they're not entirely convinced. The team was able to hack a Cube's computers in five minutes and disrupt weapons, sensors, and even their regeneration systems. All with minimal side effects and no sign of the Borg back hacking. In addition to the system disruptions they were able to recover information which hinted at the existence of another Uni-complex; the exact location is still unknown though. I still have vessels searching.
The U.S.S. Merlin reported another contact with the Nekriiti in Borg space, well away from any of the areas indicated by the charts they supplied. Yet they again claimed we were trespassing in their space. When showed the charts their people supplied, they claimed them to be inaccurate and supplied new ones. There is definitely something fishy here. The "new" charts indicate that they have expanded their holdings by 150% in the span of a few days. Their space now extends deep into what is known to be Borg space. To top it off, the vessel encountered this time had a completely different energy signature. More importantly chroniton signatures were detected on their ship, although they were going to great lengths to hide it. Based on the limited scan the Merlin was unable to say for certain whether the signatures were from Tereanan technology.
It seems unlikely, however, that this vessel would have been capable of attacking the Typhoon, even when it was in a weakened state. Scan showed this new vessel is even weaker than the first, they could have been easily disabled by even a Nova or Saber class ship. Certainly no match for the Typhoon, unless they have some other trick up their sleeves. Fortunately both encounters have ended without incident, despite initially showing a willingness to attack.
I just hope we can get to the bottom of this soon before we have another interstellar conflict. Indeed Starfleet would much prefer this to be resolved peacefully. The Tereanans may make this difficult however.

With this most recent encounter with the Nekriiti, the Tereanans don't know what to expect from them. How they got chroniton weapons however, we're not sure. From what has been provided from the Federation, the only vessel they could have possibly gotten chroniton technology from is the Explorer Class scout, or one of the "drones" that the Tereanans have built to guard weak or defenseless vessels.
This latest encounter has the Tereanans discussing how to proceed to the Uni-Complex. If a cloaked Tereanan vessel is detected by the Nekriiti, there could be trouble. Therefor, the Tereanan vessels there have been recalled back into Tereanan space. As for the chroniton weapons, well, most Tereanan vessels have enough armor to take a few blows from chroniton weapons. The Federation vessels equipped with multi-layer regenerative shielding will have sufficient protection against chroniton weapons. The rest will be relying on their armor.
It doesn't look like these Nekriiti could have possibly created an alliance with the Borg. The map conflicts seem to suggest a huge lack of internal communications. We know that they can't claim any Tereanan space as their own without putting up a fight. And the Tereanans have yet to encounter them. If there was a battle, the Tereanan's military network would have notified all ships near the battle as well as Tereanan Command. No reports have been made. As for why the Typhoon didn't alert the network when it was attacked, that still is a mystery.

That is a possibility. However, they don't seem strong enough to do that unless the vessel they got it from was disabled.
By the way, my forums should be accessible to you know. http://108.17.144.26/forums/
There are still a few issues to work out, but it should work now. I sometimes need to refresh the page a couple of times. And I'm accessing it from the local network.

maybe they found a damaged krenim ship.
the link u gave works now. it appears the problem is resolved. maybe other people can say if it works for them as well.
now all you need is some users and u got yourself a forum.

They could have possibly found a damaged ship. But I can't imagine how they would get to Krenim space without being noticed eventually.

They don't have to reach their space. The Krenim are expansionists, so a ship could have been damaged scouting potential conquests.

That is a possibility.
How would it be possible to prevent a Tereanan ship from sending out an alert onto the network that they were under attack? Computer hack on the ship to prevent the ship from sending out the alert?

Ships would normally use a Dampening field to prevent things like that, sending an alert over a wireless network should be affected like any other communication.
Trying to hack any halfway competent computer is likely to cause the alert you want to avoid.

Research on combining multi-layer regenerative shielding with multi-frequency shielding. Several Tereanan vessels have been equipped with this technology and tests show that this new technology also protects against chroniton weapons.
Information on how to combine multi-layer regenerative shielding with multi-frequency shielding has been sent to the Federation. If all goes well, the Borg won't be able to penetrate our shields. Plus, in the event that either a Tereanan or Federation vessel is hit with a chroniton weapon, neither ship will be effected that much.

Alien Vessel: We are the Borg. You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.
=== Channel Closed ===
Capt: Full spread chroniton torpedoes, target their propulsion system and fire. Activate multi-vector assault mode.
Tact: Moderate damage to the cubes propulsion system, their shields are down 15%. Multi-vector assault mode activating.
Capt: All sections, fire at will.
Tact: Top section has been hit with a graviton torpedo. Layer 1 shielding is at 85%, layer 2 shielding is undamaged.
Ops: A subspace chroniton field just went up around the cube.
Capt: Get us out of here, full impulse.
Tact: Center sections layer 1 shielding is down to 65%, layer 2 shielding is down to 90%, layer 3 shielding is undamaged. The subspace chroniton field is destabilizing. It is going to collapse in on the cube.
Capt: Brace for impact!
Tact: The subspace chroniton field has collapsed in on the cube. The cube has been destroyed. The top sections layer 1 shielding is at 85%, layer 2 shielding is at 97%, layer 3 shielding is undamaged. Center section's layer 1 shielding is at 75%, layer 2 shielding is back at 100%, layer 3 shielding remains undamaged. The bottom section's layer 1 shielding is at 84%, layer 2 shielding is undamaged. No damage to any of the sections, no casualties.
Capt: Re-integrate the ship.
Ops: Re-integration sequence complete.

*****Adm. Petri - U.S.S. Hime - Captain's Log Stardate 781454.8******
For the past week, the Hime has been deep inside Borg space, looking for any Uni-Complexes that might exist. To ensure our safety, I ordered the Hime on silent running. While we didn't find any signs of a Uni-Complex, we did find something interesting. Deep in Borg space, approximately 500 lightyears from the galactic core boundary, we found what appeared to be the remains of a Nekriiti ship, as well as pieces of a Borg hull; there was nowhere near enough mass to account for even the whole of a small vessel, but enough to suggest that the Nekriiti gave them a broken nose and a black eye. The attack appears to have occurred roughly 3 days prior to our finding the vessel.
We were able to recover quite a bit from the remains of the Nekriiti vessel, including a large amount of information from their computers. Among the data recovered was another set of inconsistent star charts, this time claiming territory as far away as the Alpha Quadrant. More importantly though, a record of the vessel's activities going back 200 years. Their route indicates they originated from an area just inside the galactic core, but shows no indication of a homeworld. In fact there are no indications that the Nekriiti have any kind of organized government or culture. There is a record of the ships this vessel attacked or scavenged, including at least five Federation vessels, all of which had been listed by Starfleet as missing.
There is little indication that the Nekriiti vessels maintain contact with each other, although they do appear to share key finds, and it would appear that they either have not encountered the Borg yet, or lived to tell; this is further supported by the fact that they initiated the attack on a territory claim. This vessel also does not appear to have received any information about chroniton weapons, despite such technology being a major boon. This suggests competition among the Nekriiti. There was, however, no information recovered regarding this, or any of their social matters.
The analysis of the debris suggests that the ship was quite old, patched continually with harvested parts. Technology of at least 15 different species have been identified. All indications are that the various parts have been spliced together and jerry rigged into a working ship. In fact I highly doubt that this vessel originally belonged to the Nekriiti; but there are no indications of who might have owned it.
Apart from the discovery of the Nekriiti vessel, the remainder of our mission was uneventful. In fact there wasn't a Borg vessel sighted the whole time. The complete lack of Borg vessels is indeed strange, but we have nothing to indicate cause.
For now we have returned to Starbase 7144 to relay our findings to Starfleet and the Tereanans
