my old pc is still running with a nvidia Geforce FX 5er(~5 Years now), it wokrs like the "Käfer" - Advertisment from Volkswagen:

"es läuft, und läuft, und läuft, und läuft, und läuft".

New PC with ATI: Second card in 1 Year.

That's a good point to be honest, I've never had an nVidia card die on me but I've had two separate AMD/ATI cards die on me.

That point only proves you had a manufacturer that made a bad card, wasnt necessarily the chipset. Again there are so many manufacturers for cards that you cant just blame harware failure on the chipset provider. Personally Ive been building computers for over 10 years and I used to love Nvidia, started with a GeForce 2 GTS. Currently I use ATI in all my builds, I have had very good rsults in all my builds with ATI and never had a card go bad on me and never had any real driver issues either I have however gone through several Nvidia cards over the years. They both make good chipsets that do things better then the other, but its more about personal preference these days. Currently I run a HD4890 about to upgrade to a 6970.

hmmmmm now that i think of it this is my first ati card but i have gone through 4 nvidia cards and i think 3 of them did over heat and die........well 2 of them did get a bit dusty but my last one even the tech guy at the store said that my 9800 OC was prone to overheating

I have had both and i suppose i like Nvidea better. In terms of gfx nvidea cards tend to deliver more fps, however Ati cards tend to "look" better.
