You can get MoO 1&2 from GOG.com together for $5.99:

For those who are unfamilar with GOG.com: there is no DRM-like system used for the installer or the game. Just download and install it as often as you wish.

You don't have to do anything except installing and launching the game(s) to get 'em running. It inlcudes a multiplayer shortcut which makes things a lot easier. The Win95 version of MoO 2 is also included but needs manual tweaks.

And, well, DOSbox isn't that hard to use. :P

Ok this only might happen once you get to the end-game...which is quite hard if you play against a strong AI. I never played MP btw.

I do it fairly regularly, on Hard and Impossible, so it's quite doable.  I've also done it on multiplayer...once.  Largely because it's considered extremely bad form to use that ship in MP.  Considered to be effectively cheating, and there's nothing more boring than two of that ship meeting up to fight.  Neither one can hurt the other.

anyone here remembers M.A.X 1 (not 2, part 2 sucked hard ...)?
isnt in space, but was one of the greatest round based games i evah played
