I wish they would just skip writing to the registry meh or a quick reinstall would be nice at least something i wouldnt have to babysit.

i think it would be good if microsoft could make programs easier to back up, by allowing users to just copy the installation directory and the program will still work. ie have data that would usually go in the registry get put in a file in the installation's root directory. stuff like file associations could then be read from those files in 1 big search of all installed programs, and the registry restored after a wipe.


What I have started doing is create an image of the c drive after I have installed windows and installed all my programs and games. This means next time all I have to do in install windows then restore the image and bingo, a lot of time saved.

But I do agree it takes ages after a reinstall to get your system back up. I have gotten it down to a tee, last time took me three hours to re-install Windows and all my programs (some 2 dozen programs) however I didn't re-install my games till like a month later.
