Guess what I saw!

Want to say something off topic? Something that has nothing to do with Trek? Post it here.

Indeed, if you are going to use an AV product then don't use that steaming pile of dung.  Back in the day (before fire was invented) it was actually a good set of products they produced.  But a long time ago they really lost it.

Still, who uses anti-virus these days?  Not me.  Just hide behind NAT and firewall, don't open dodgy attachments, use Firefox/NoScript, etc, and no viruses, worms, bots, or trojans.

Little off topic but iv used kaspersky internet security for years, its the best iv come across and everyone should be using at least an anti-virus if not complete internet security software.

yeah some form of av is necessary. even if its only the microsoft free one lol.

i use nod32 cos its got good abilites, like high detection rate, similar to kaspersky. but is very light on system resources. which for me puts it ahead of kaspersky, which is a close second.

then there's others that function average and are rather resource greedy like mcafee and avg. they arent bad, just not good either.

I use Avast! since it's free, light on resources, and has a high detection rate.

Norton 2010 is considered by many websites to be 2nd or 3rd best AV. The reasons they cite include that it has a cool interface and low resource usage plus some features involving network security. Norton is still crap, the only good reason I can come up with for the high ranking is the money.

I'm a big fan of F-prot myself.  Brutally efficient little beast.

"norton" and "low resource usage" should never be used in the same sentence. unless there is a person called norton maybe.

symantec probably bought these positive reviews.

what i hate most is when computers come shipped with norton, its a pain in the arse to remove sometimes, its worse than a virus itself.
