I wrote battlestar galactica but i should have put ST however was the first season was sweet but later episodes have gotten weird. The original one was very good as well if only ABC hadn't pulled the plug. Why do the broadcasting networks always ruin it for us.

-=B!G=-The Black Baron wrote:StarGate and Star Trek together on first place. Since I can only vote for 1 and ST is bound to get the most votes I gave mine to StarGate :P (Richard Dean "MacGyver" Anderon FTW :D)

Who is closest to MacGyver type person in ST, scotty?

Ummm, hard to decide, so i just state my opinion for each series.  :sweatdrop:

B5: What a wondeful show, too bad they don´t do anything with the stuff anymore, they ruined it with a lot of forgettable movies and that terrible spin-off, it wasn´t b5 anymore.

BSG: Just great, though the final didn´t satisfy me much.

Stargate: Nice and entertaining, but often quite boring, and they rerun the old episodes too often, got confused at some point.  :sweatdrop:

Star Wars: Well, a classic. But the 3 "old" movies would have sufficed.

Star Trek: Loved them, all of them, even Enterprise (and i still don´t get why most peaople hated it)

And on a side note, i cried at the end of all shows (not stargate, it doesn´t seem to end , ever...). I´m not ashamed to admit that, having emotions and showing them is strength not weakness.

not to mention that b5 had some great movies as well, the greatest being without question "in the beginning". and sheridan is one of the best portrayed characters in sci-fi history IMO. He always seems to do the right thing, no matter the cost or the ways in which he does that. he's kinda like sisko in a way, but a lot more badass.

Unless your people get their countersuited buts and do something!

Now get the hell out of our galaxy!

We are here to place President Clark under arrest!

Sheridan FTW!

if you had asked that question a few years back, i guess i had answered clearly answered star trek
i still like star trek of course, but i like many other good scifi franchises too
bsg: i always liked the classic series, it was pretty fun to watch, but i never took the story there seriosly. that may also because they seem to like to show the last season of the classic series here in germany a lot. the reimagined series were great, but i really didn't like the season finale, i hoped for a better ending in terms of...story, i guess
b5: i'll have to admit that i only saw a few scattered episodes of it, so i can't say much about babylon 5
stargate: stargate is also a great francise, but it got too much 'star trek' for my taste the further the series progressed with starships and spacebattles. thats not wrong, but when i watched some old episodes that they reaired from season 1 or 2 i noticed the difference there. the old episodes had just the sg1 team that tried to figure something out about a big unknown enemy. in the later seasons the goauld were more or less just cannon fodder. atlantis is good, but the story and that whole galaxy never got me hooked.
star wars: star wars is great. i like it. who doesn't? :P i haven't seen that clone war movie though, as it is said to be very bad anyway

Addicted to:
1. Star Trek
2. SG

Watched the others, but they just don't "pull" me in. There's still time though  :D.

Star Trek. Any other Sci-Fi I watch is just a passing phase than runs a neverending circle. Star Trek is the only Sci-Fi that I like which is fulltime rather than part of the circle, especially TNG & DS9.

Incase you don't know what I mean by that, I mean; Like show A, switch to Show B, then to Show C, back to Show A, repeat. Adding any new shows I find.

I know exactly what you mean (cycle: TNG>DS9>VOY>ENT>SG:A>beginning) and in between i sometimes include other interesting legacy non-scifi shows, like MASH or similar :)

Star Trek or B5, If they had kept improving B5 then I would have had to go with that. The great thing about B5 was that the writers had some serious background in philosophy and ethics and were able to successfully apply this to the show. BSG was similarly well written but it got way too dark for me after a while. Star Trek was always on the lighter side of things, maybe too light sometimes but I don't generally watch tv to be reminded how screwed we all are. The only problem I have with ST is that it is essentially American propaganda when you really break it down. If they make a new series they really need to address this.

Stargate never did it for me, it always seemed too cheap and campy (campy in the sense of las-vegas faux Egyptian lounge entertainment), although Richard Dean Anderson is great.

One worth mentioning that isn't in the poll is firefly, this was an immensely entertaining show with great characters. It seems to be dead for now anyways but hopefully they will bring it, or something like it, back in the near future.

Also forgot to mention Doctor Who, I grew up watching re-runs of old episodes (1970s) and I really loved the show, I haven't seen the new one yet however.

Ok I cant pick just one....so hear goes.....

My own list or sci-fi I loved and miss....

Babylon 5..Jan michael strazynski was so atuned to things...I mean WOW!!....if U watch B5 you have to watch all 5 seasons to really get the story but I didnt care for the spinoff....the last movie though was good so GO OUT AND BUY IT SO THEY WIL MAKE MORE PLEASE!!!...sorry to go all caps but I miss that series......

Also I miss SPACE ABOVE and BEYOND....It was a great show.....I cant really explaine why I enjoyed it other than it was good story for me.....

The STARGATE franchise....Everything about it I dug from oneiil to Ba'll...god I loved Ba'lls charecter. Atlantis is ok too but not as good as the original.

Star Trek of course cause of kirk and spock....bad acting yet somehow great storytelling....and it only got better...though really my fav trek is DS9 after season 2...voyager is kinda "ehh" for me...so was enterprise....

Ok now for BSG....The origianl was good.....though it was kinda too much like star warsy for me...in style I mean...also I really didnt care for the actors...except for richard hatch....it just wasent very "beliavable" for me....now the reimagining on the other hand I found quite good...though I didnt care for the ending...

Ok next sci-fi and you might not know or remember this one...just google it if u dont know is..."V"...I wont spoil the thing for you guys but it was a great story and drew many parelles to society.....

Star wars......"ehh"....its ok I guess....

I miss First Wave as well.....that was a very suspenseful show for me...I remeber afterwards I kinda would look around at people and think...are they human or are they gonna go poof if I dump salt on them?

Andromeda I really didnt like...though I did like Lexa Doig in it....Ive seen her in a few other shows...I think she added to herself if u guys no what I mean? ;) Alos I think Hercules was better at playing hercules radther than a highguard captain....what was his name kevin somthing?

And for last but not least but not first...is FARSCAPE...Now in that show Ben Browder did a far better job in than with SG1....Between Rarscape and SG1 I cant tell which show made me laugh more but they both were great!

Btw....I cried at the end of Babylon 5....when sheridan watched the sun rise....that was an emotinal moment for me....I have to go back and say what a powerful story there was behind B5.......

Oh I allmost forgot....not a favorite but also a good watch was SLIDERS....actually Ive rediscovered that show....kinda funny really thinking about it....though Im just wondering....what is Fleetops like in other dimensions?....Do the feds have the promy radther than the descent?...instead of the dominion is it the alliance?

Ok thats all for now.
