According to a conspiracy theory, it is possible that encounters of other intellegent life forms have occured. Just that those secret keeping conspirators don't want us to know.  :shifty:

Yes, because non-terran life would travel millions of kilometers (if not billions) just to say hi to some conspirators, abduct a few boring humans, and then leave--all without telling the rest of the 6.7 billion humans or other organisms anything and without leaving any sort of physical trail ...

Maybe they have reasons that Humans don't know?

When you get to Empty and Meaningless  then every thing is real a option. Nothing then you can get every thing and any thing.

Empty and Meaningless is a very powerful discussion from the Landmark Forum if you relay wont to get to nothing thats the place to do it. Its sole goal is to empower people in having there dreams become real and we all need a bush in the right direction now and then I do.

You propagate we should throw anything away and live like it could be our last five minutes...

Sorry... that's just plain stupid... IF you really live like that, then they will be your last five minutes... No work, no money, no food, no future... Our destiny is not in the vicinity of our 4-Dimensional World... but in far reaches of the future, we live on to change the future, I will have my life end gracefully, quiet and calm... because I work for my future and don't throw away every precious minute to senseless tickering...

Yes life could end every second but so what? What did I gained or bettered if I lived my life in Haze and Fear of the end? Nothing... Some will say "Thee come from nothing and to nothing shall thee return"... but I'm not nothing... I have my History, my Present and my Future and I insist of living it like it is meant to be... and not throwing anything away just because a stupid Video throws around Numbers and someone tells me to live like I have just five minutes left...

Well the other side of that is you could wait and wait for a magic creator to come down and give you that life you love or you can crate it by taking on this is it and I am going to make my life not wait and wait and wait till I die with regret and cynicism.

I think its plain stupid not to. Your crate you own destiny its now or now there no other time it could be.

Lets keep to the topic this topic is very important please don't add things that take away from the topic.

I need to crate that what you said is Empty and Meaningless or I would get annoyed at you.

You said what you said because you said it thats all it dose not mean that you don't respect me or the topic Empty and Meaningless.

You didn't respond to my previous comment. The Universe has no mean in your own eyes. That does not mean you should expect us to agree with you and think in the same way.

I'm working towards uni now, and I want to go to uni and do well, because I think that someday, directly or indirectly, I will have a positive influence on the development on the human race. Ok, it's a bit lofty, but I want to help on work with fusion reactors, because I believe they are the way forward.

The point is, my life isn't as important to me as what I could contribute, in the way of my work and my (hopefully) future children. And I'm 16 for Christ's sake. (Not religious by the way, but not Atheistic. I don't even know if I'm agnostic...I'm very strange)

Learn from the past, live for the present, but be prepared for the future. - Its pretty much sums up my life outlook.

And look at it this way, if we as a race dont look to the future then within a few millennia, or even sooner, we may find our planet getting splatted by a comet or some natural disaster which wipes us off the face of the planet.  It really annoys me that governments spend so much energy on fighting and arguing when unless we put as much effort as possible to spreading ourselves among the stars as soon as possible our entire species is at risk.... still, i hear in a few billion years our galaxy may collide with another, however, thats a problem for the next generation - cue TNG music ;-)

First we have to figure out how to live on this planet and in this solar system--if we can't conserve on our own planet, how  can we expect to do so on another? ;)

Then we will be able to live in multigenerational ships to venture out... Plus, Earth only has about 2 billion years before the surface becomes too hot for water to remain a liquid. Plenty of time

A there good tool to helping you get to empty and meaningless is to get that past has nothing to do with how you are being in the present. People relate to there life's as products of there parents, environment, or circumstances they don't you are a product of your own creation. When you get that you can choose what to crate.

Well, then let everyone else figure out the problems that plague humanity and the biosphere, because unless you want to make "the last 5 minutes" come about rather quickly and assuredly, somebody's gotta do it.
