fo uses nowhere near that much memory. if apps are clogging up memory then close the apps instead of adding more memory.
its like if a car breaks down on a motorway you dont just build more lanes, u move the car.

The bottleneck would be the processor, idk if you could even add more memory to that laptop.

you cant add to a processor, only replace it.
it depends on what slot that laptop has
its probably not ancient yet as he bought it only 3 years ago, so he should be able to find a nicer processor for it.
this is risky though, his laptop might not be designed to get rid of that much heat. his processor may be the hottest he can fit to that model, he would have to look into it.
also fitting a graphics card would improve things a lot, but there may be no room inside for a card, or again his laptop may not be able to cool a graphics card. installing graphics cards on laptops is tricky. far trickier then the same thing on a desktop.

Sorry that was a poorly written i meant idk if you can even add more memory. I fixed my previous post too because it looks dumb.

I doubled my memory from 2 to 4 GB. All I need is probably either a new drive connector or a new motherboard so I can get my Disk Drive working again. Then I'd be able to play like the power players.

adding memory is an easy thing to actually do, but only if you're computer supports it. my laptop supports 2GB max. boggz may already have his max in, which means he cant add more.

you're cd drive is broke too? you also say you cant get tunngle working as well. or have you fixed that?
also there are plenty of ways to beat the cd check. use a computer with a working drive to make a disc image of your armada 2 disc, then use that image to play the game. or use the cracks available all over the web, i think doca cola even made one and posted it on a website for people to use.
EDIT: the guide has a link to the site with the cracks.

I have an XP Desktop and a Vista Laptop. I liked laying on the laptop better but my CD drive is new (I replaced my old one) and in one peice. It is just that for whatever reason the computer can't read it. So it is more or less possibly motherboard damage.
My XP works fine. Just that it is slow and has a rather unliked Screen Resolution and not so good of a Graphics card either. But I had tunngle problems with the XP. My laptop had CD problems before we even started using Tunngle.

That's correct.
My laptop SAID it had the ability to be bumped up from the orginal 1GB RAM (vomit) to 2GB.
When 3.1 came out I went out and tried to do that, but it wouldn't accept the two new 1GB cards being in at the same time. Sadly, I was forced to return one of the them and re-insert one of the old 500MB cards that it had previously.
Thus, Boggz laptop is now running on 1.5GB of RAM and a 1.75 Ghz Processor.
The RAM cannot be upgraded further due to the limitations of the machine itself. The Processor would have to be totally replaced like you said which .. for a laptop is just silly. Better to buy a whole new machine.

Or just buy a PC. You can put several hamster wheels in those!

That's my plan:
There are good desktops that reach upwards of 8 GB RAM and a 2.9 Ghz processor with a Terabyte of Storage for about $560.
That's what I've got my eye on.

I think I mentioned this long ago, in the impact! thread, or somewhere similar, but depending on location (probably Northam) you can find a dedicated gaming computer for $60... at an F'ing Electronic recycling depot!! (At least, as far as basic Fleetops specs are concerned)
"The Big F'ing Dell"
"Pentium 4 Dual Processor 3.00GHz
2.0GHz of RAM
Nvidia GeForce 4400 Ti 128MB (Video Card)
Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum 5.1 (Audio Card)
120GB HDD
+ P.O.S*** Viewsonic 17" Monitor (FREE)
(In Addition To my external hard drive (FIREWIRE LINE + USB HUB), Wifi network, DVD+RW (The Comp only came with CD+RW) & some other goodies...
THIS IS JUST MY DEDICATED GAMING/MESSING AROUND COMPUTER (Since I'm paranoid with my laptop)
Bottom line, whether the evil little depot guy was cutting me a deal, or profiteering, I paid $60CDN.. Cash (Approx 56USD/45EU... I said approx...)
My brother apparently fired off close to $400 to Radio Shack for something Inferior to this FYI...
Bottom Line... Unless You want The SUPER-TRON F'ING 5000+5000!!!! Computers ARE CHEAP.
