Anyone know when Avatar will be coming out on bluray?

Want to say something off topic? Something that has nothing to do with Trek? Post it here.

I cannot find a straight answer on the interwebs.  Anyone know projected release date?  I haven't seen it yet in theater and I don't know if I want to spend the 35 bucks it will cost me in theaters for 2 tickets and a bucket of popcorn and soda vs the 25 it will cost me for the same setup....plus I can pause it when I have to take a leak!!  Please do not leave comments about how much you loved/hated the movie.

Personally, if you can watch it in 3D, I would recommend seeing the film, as you can't get 3D at home (cheaply).
But you didn't ask for that. And unfortunately I don't know when the DVD or Bluray release is, but I want to know too. Tried looking all over :(

It's worth watching once, and in 3D at the theaters.  I saw it in theaters, but not in 3D, but I can see why it would have been a good 3D experience.  Just don't buy the popcorn and soda and you'll save money and not have to take a leak during the film. :D

Dude....movie popcorn with that fake butter crap they put on it....and a soda to wash down that grease...I need it! :-p  Its part of the movie going experience.  As for 3d, even with the new 3d technology, I'm not overly impressed.  I can still tell that its not 3d and it ends up giving me a headache after awhile.  I hate wearing glasses as it is and I cannot wear contacts.  I saw UP and Monsters vs. Aliens (GREAT movie if you have a little boy!!) in 3d and ended up with a headache and not impressed w/ 3d effects...though they were good movies.

There's a website I saw that said the DVD release was May....but they didn't have it for bluray....but then I read a 3d bluray will be coming in late 2010, so my guess would be a release in May.

oops, edited out my opinion abt movie :pinch: my bad

don't know when it is coming out though sry :(

edit again:  oh and not so say anything about movie, but it is supposed to have the best 3d graphics ever. (didn't see it in 3d myself) I don't like 3d very much, but I have good friends that said that the 3d was perfection

I would say the 3D in this movie is the best I've ever seen.

*TINY SPOILER ALERT*

Didn't want to upset anyone, best to be prepared :P

To anyone else who has seen Avatar, didn't you think the first interor shot of the spaceship was beautiful?

Zaxxon, are you single?!  lol.  Figure about 10.00 per ticket (I live in the greater Philly area), 6 bucks for a big popcorn and about 5 for a soda....and then there's tax! :-p

no

of the 3D stuff i have seen, this was the best technologically.  REAL glasses, none of those crappy paper ones

Should see it in 3D (IMHO) IF your going to see it at all.

not to spoil anything, but the story line to avatar is IDENTICAL  to pocahontas.  just change the names of people & places.

For years (decades almost) i hated the theater.  little thing at home called the PAUSE button theaters just cant top.

but a little trick to the whole bathroom thing,  when you get your jumbo tub of pop, simple grab two cups, keep them stacked, fill the top one.  now, once you in the theater, you have 2 cups, one full to drink from, and the other to fill   :woot:

I can't wait to get it on DVD. Because then it will then be zipped straight into my IPod! :D And then I can have it whereever I want!

yes I am, but I also have access to military movie theaters where tickets are $2.00 and no tax :D

besides that, tickets at my normal theater are only $6, + a large popcorn makes it abt $15 for two people.(again not counting soda) it would only be like $12 if its two adults w/out popcorn, and $10 if one of the people is younger than 12

but I like the crappy popcorn, as you said its part of the experience.

you've read this (sorry for the image being so large, just right click and click view image):

Image

just replace:

-white people with... white people in space

-native americans with smurfs (well smurf kitty cat hybrids)

-horsies with MASSIVE SPACESHIPS and flying dragons.

and hilarity ensues

Military movie theater???

I hope the quality had increased ever so slightly since my day.  movies would hit the theater on friday, and the (sigh, hanging head in shame) VHS tape would be avaible from the Shopette rental section on Monday.

so the question always was, do we watch it on the big screen with the crappy sound system, or do we wait till monday, have the awesome sound on a 27" tube. (with pause button)

Ugh... I hate popcorn.... they never put enough butter and far too much salt. :yucky: So that is why I usually get something fried at the theaters. :hungry: Fried cheese sticks is always a tasty alternative, if only it wasn't in such small portions though. :P
