Anyone else on a mac?
Want to say something off topic? Something that has nothing to do with Trek? Post it here.

Just curious. I'm on a 15" Macbook Pro, running FLOPS at max settings (actually higher...I set AA to 16x). And it runs great. Oh yeah, and I'm using it on an XP partition via bootcamp. FLOPS was literally the only reason I installed Xp on my computer.

Same here! Don't know why anyone would use something more expensive and less effective.

I am a pc... faithfully, I hate macs because buying software for them is always more expensive, and a number of games aren't even available for mac. With PC's you basically have almost everygame at your grasp.

That because because people settle for less. If enough people said I wont mac games they would make them. I did here a report Windows 7 will have better suability and it still has yet to have a UI that matches Macs old OSX and its up dates I heard where annoying. This is just the 1st reports I have heard we will see if they are accurate.
Despite 3 Windows Operating systems coming out I am still sticking with OSX definitely..

Well, as far as I hear from most of the scientists on campus around me, Linux based systems beat Mac hands down because of how limited Mac is... in this case Win7 or any other Windows OS is irrelevant because of the tasks being performed, but the irony is that Mac is being advertised as being used for these purposes... yet the cheaper and more powerful Linux systems are far superior

I think it will remain my opinion for a long time that Mac is just an expensive plaything, rather than an effective tool.

PC:
You can do anything, if you go about it the wrong way and or without intellect, you'll cause yourself problems. Support for THE BEST hardware at low cost.
Mac:
Extremely expensive machines with a tiny parts list. Run on Unix based joke Operating system, a perfect machine for all the BMW 325i owners to take to Starbucks with them to just sit and look cool drinking their $5 latte. Lol, unless you use final cut you're just being a hipster or have subscribed to the myth of the typical liberal arts student and his invulnerable Mac book which is superior based on the fact that he paid $1300 for 2GB of ram and an entry level C2D processor in a laptop. =/
And if you're running the iMac for any reason other than aesthetics, you're nuts, for less than that I built my current i7 rig and I guarantee the only Macs that can outperform it are the Pros, and I can bet my PC will never come in at any greater than 65% of the cost of a comparable Mac Pro.
EDIT: I'd like to say I have assumed that everyone who has posted is at least as computer literate as me or is somewhat comparable, to someone who is slightly less versed in computers the Mac can be a safe (albeit still expensive) alternative.
Linux:
A machine for profs, comp students, server owners, ect. A workstation. You have to have some sort of understanding of programming to be a capable Linux user. Unfortunately difficult to use if you've always had Windows /OS X paving the way for you.

and have any kind of error pop up know to man at any give time.
You have the Same basic frame UI from 4 to 5 OS ago with some tweaks.
You have a SO that is often the target of most computer jokes because of its pore construction despite being the biggest and richest computer OS manufacture.
and it supports the worst hardware for high prices.
-- Mac --
Quality costs.
THe new Imacs come with some new cool stuff not to mention its all wireless and and looks assume. Stuff that it comes with like a new mouse that detects where your hands is and allows you to zoom, rotate, go back to a old web page with out moving the mouse. The monitors also have increased performance that gives you one if not the highest views experiences available. And they do this with having one of the lowest impacts on the interment of any computer manufacture to date.
They are worth the money many of there commuters now have higher then core 2 duo and this is one of the 1st iterations of this new design there will be even higher end modals coming don't you whey..
