I must definitely agree with folks like coolhandab and ewm90. It just takes a little commitment and dedication, and that means that we must simply WATCH OUR USE OF WORDS! It's very simple. Coolhandab did mention about the war of words in the political thread, and that's natural because people with totally opposite viewpoints can feel so passionately on a particular subject that they would do anything to prove their point. Elsewhere, however, is not suitable for argument unless a thread was started where people are supposed to bring out their frustrations as long as they don't bring them out elsewhere. Anyways, it isn't that complex of a problem IF we work together to minimalize or even eliminate the problem of conflict.

I should also point out that I agree with cts006 about apes, but I do see where ewm90 is getting his point from. We're technically more advanced than apes in many things including intelligence, and he's just using a metaphor to describe how we've been acting on the forum in recent times.

I have a very simple solution for all of this. All we have to do is show some respect and maturity to EVERY member of the FO community. I myself have been guilty of throwing heated words around (I hope mostly in the political forum, which is what it's for) and deeply regret most of them now. There are some "members" which obviously can't or won't show basic respect to everyone (fortunately haven't seen them around lately) but if we simply ignore posts and topics that are ill-tempered and mean-spirited we'll come through this just fine without the need for constant adult supervision from Optec and Doca.

I think that could be accomplished if we watch ourselves. I never had a problem with getting angery with other members. One day me and DEFIANT would be yelling at each other, and the next we'd be happily talking about FleetOps, sort of strikes a weird balance.

Regarding the ewm's Political Thread, I think most of the debating (and you gotta admit, some of the flaming) mostly stays in there. I'll see donald and DEFIANT in a heated debate, but that heated debate seems to stay there. Like I said, strikes a weird balance.

With a little work, admiting when we're wrong and we know it, allowing others the credit, not giving another's idea flak everytime it comes up and if it doesn't work, try out a modified version of it. This'd go a long way to bringing peace to the forum. :)

And one other thing, I think we should keep swearing to a minimim, as it promotes a bad atmosphere within the forums.

who is swearing?

Everyone. You, me, most of the members have at one time done that. It's been more evident on the forum as of late and I think it should stop.

Well I dont have a problem with it since its just words, and since its a majority of the forum members doing it, who cares that much. ITS JUST WORDS FFS.

What about replacing letters in swear words with symbols (i.e. damn replaced with d@mn)?
