Hey folks, thanks to bigBEN announcing his vpn program of choice, over the last few days 17 + of us have been testing this program. So far things are looking quite good, so here's a summary. All you need to play with other Fleet Ops players is to be on the same network. No adding people (unless you want to chat on the integrated private IM or exchange files) and no waiting for blinking IP's.

For troubleshooting, setup information, and pretty pictures, visit the Tunngle page in the Guide :)

Using Tunngle - The Hitchhiker's Guide to Fleet Operations

So what are the pro's and con's you might ask? I think this should highlight the ones I've seen so far.

The good news:
  • No dropouts
  • Equal lag or better than Wippien (ping is REALLY low so far as I've noticed... I'm talking often below 100 which is much better than Hamachi and Wippien)
  • No problems connecting with people (no stupid blinking IP's or any of that nonsense)
  • None of that "cross my fingers and try random things to fix connections" (see above bullet point)
  • Network and integrated IM chat options
  • No random waiting for one person to enter, nor having to add people - just join the same network and everything is set!
  • Network size is 255 people online at the same time on ONE network (if that ever happens, I'll be amazed)

The bad news (so far only one point):
  • The program is still in beta, meaning that they could decide to do something random with it when it is still in this stage... but I'm optimistic, as on the site it is always declared to be free. Some features are still missing, but for our purposes we don't need them

It's got a 1960's style airline stewardess  who gets real close to you and asks you about your ping. :whistling:

Wait!  No!  What was I talking about?! :sweatdrop:

OH! Right.  Tunngle.  Yes, Tunngle is good.  And it's nice to have group chat again.  That's half of why we play online I think. ^-^

Edit:  So, to actually be serious, I found a you tube video on how to set things up and helps solve some issues if you do have any, etc.

I played a game in six last night and the only thing that was missing was... the lag. And the stewardess with the cold drink...

Awesome :) Haven't had much time to play in the last while because Mass Effect 2 and STO have taken over my life by force, but will hopefully have time in the next few days

Its an ok little program and I really like that its much more stable than Wippien. Though I have to say it gave me a lot of problems when installing the adapter....
But its a nice program after all :) I like that you dont have to add people to play - that is just stupid

It seems very good.  Unfortunately it is still a beta, so it may have unknown bugs.

I've found certain things arn't translated, and the IMing feature doesn't work
