In chess and in Starcraft, you'll see players, when they believe they've lost, you'll see them 'gg' (well, in chess, it's tipping over your king). ('gg'='good game', conceding victory)
So, question to the community: Should you 'gg' if you belive you've lost?

fight to the bitter end, make them pay for every cubic cm of space

Well sure there's no reason not to say "gg" to your opponent
On the other hand, sometimes people say "gg" when they feel they've lost their momentum and just basically concede without even trying to do better. Sometimes people won't have even taken any losses at their base - they just lose their first fleet and get pissed off with a "gg" and quit.
That makes Boggz angry. >:(

No momentum and no losses make Boggz go aaangry
I'm all for fighting to the bitter end unless:
a) both teams are practically perfectly equal match and deadlock ensures for silly amounts of time.
b) someone has decisively lost and is just hiding one stupid ship in an obscure place to be annoying.

I'm actually in support of this course of action, I did it once with a Romulan ship.

i think when you're down to small enough ships that you can't win, you should engage the enemy with that ship and get it blown up.

I think it depends on who you're playing with. People I've beaten will sometimes say "you can kill the rest of me if you want", but I don't really feel the need to take on your starbase and a couple of mining vessels if it's clear you can't come back from it. Better to start a new game and play again, because the point is to have a friendly game against two people!
It really depends on how you take losses. I don't mind if a person destroys my remaining stuff, because I'm usually chatting with them while the blow the rest of my base up. Or talk about work, life in general, or about the game. I think for the most part people are very friendly in games and take losses well (you can't win 'em all, but you can sure try!
) Just understand that if you beat someone, they may not want you to crush the rest of their base, and if you are beaten, you need to let the winner know what's ok.
Dominus and I rarely ever play after the decisive moment. Our play styles are very similar and we've played so many games that one mistake, sometimes even in the build order, and it's over. What's really fun is when one of us wins decisively, and we chat a while and the other secretly rebuilds and all of a sudden things are on equal footing again! It's one thing to manage fleets of ships, but when you're only managing with 3-4 ships, things get intense!
Yeah, I hate it when people hold onto their last cloaked ship and force you to constantly use tachyon scan and intelligence report to find it. That can get kind of old. "Glares at Tyler" >:(

Sometimes when I'm clearly losing I set myself little goals to accomplish before I lose completely - eg once when I was losing to snezzle, I was determined to destroy his first sphere before he destroyed the rest of my base
Was tough going since all I had was my starbase and some K'tingas that used to be my miners.....

Haha maybe I should clarify. I don't condone quitting when someone is literally overwhelmingly powerful but just refuses to attack. That's annoying. If they sit behind ever-growing walls of turrets and just amass without moving, I get annoyed and will sometimes tell them that I'm going to quit unless they do something.
But yes, what Mal says is true. Sometimes there are moments when you KNOW you cannot win. Especially if the opponent reaches a critical mass with a certain kind of vessel that can dish out massive damage quickly enough to really make any comeback impossible. THAT is different.
Nor do I EVER feel it necessary to stomp over an enemy's base just because it's there.
But I don't condone losing a few ships and going "well, it's over" because there are lots of new tactics available to help a player come back.

Have any of you played against my brother UnknownSaiyan? He's a bigger dick than I am. If he has at least ONE ship that can cloak, and you've destroyed the majority of his forces....you'll have to scour (sp?) the map looking for it. And people will leave the game because he won't attack or anything. He'll stay cloaked. And after 30 mins of looking w/ no one to kill, people quit and the game calls him the victor. So my advice to you...if you want the win, then you stay till the end. If you can't hack it, you lose.

Lol!
In that case I just say:
"gg!"
And quit.

I misunderstood the topic when I voted. I think either one is acceptable. Do whatever you feel comfortable with. If you're outnumbered 3 to 1 it might be pointless but if you want to fight to the bitter end or feel maybe you can turn it around with some luck then keep going.

I fight to the end but one time in stock a2 my whole base and every ship was gone and I had a cloaked scout and he finally found it but he wasnt annoyed or any thing but it was a good game

I usually try to continue to the end, because in the past I misjudged when I didn't have a chance. And I've rarely gotten to the point where my opponent thinks I'm beating them and they have no chance to come back. Though I have to say, it's pretty annoying when you know your opponent can destroy you, but they don't, so you start building up, and just when you think you have a chance they come in with a huge fleet and kill your fleet (still not touching your base). Or they kill a cube/sphere that took all your resources seconds before it was finished being constructed.
As for hiding cloaked ships, since I usually play as Romulans (admittedly not recently - 3.1.0 scared me away), I usually couldn't resist taking a talon or some other ship I could get to escape destruction and hide in the corner of the map, or a nebula, or an asteroid field. But I usually don't let it drag for more than 10 minutes or so, unless it's Dom, because he MURDERED that talon after promising to capture it (sorry, it was emotional
