Yeah points are just a bunch of useless numbers at the moment.  There is no "success" or " validation that you can discern from them.

What if I go by how long a player lasts, then by the relative power of the surviving armadas and build my own point system?

  I don't understand what that would accomplish.  Win/Loss is really the only effective gauge we have.  Is there some reason why you are tied to that?

Well, when racing for a championship in a league, usually, the most consistent driver will take the championship if the league isn't doing a chase segment.  A point system is what I'm used to.  The better your finishing position, the more points you got.

UPDATE:  Here's a basic point system.

First Place:  15 points
Second Place:  14 points
Third Place:  13 points
Fourth Place:  12 points
Fifth Place:  11 points
Sixth Place:  10 points
Seventh Place:  9 points

Point system update for the new layout:

First Out:  1 Point
Second Out:  2 Points
Third Out:  3 Points
Fourth Out:  4 Points

In the event that two players on the same team remain at the end, the winner of the game will be determined by the most powerful armada.

It was, but the connectivity started to improve, so I cancelled the cancellation.  And made some updates to the rules as well.  It was only cancelled because I couldn't get a good connection.

Oh, and Mayhem, the September starting date was picked because the other tournament has a good chance of being over by then.
