Okay, this tournament officially starts in September. Here are some updates for the rules:
There will be 8 Groups of players. Each group will be divided into two teams and each team will have two players in it.
Each team in the group will battle each other three times. The points are determined by how long you last relative to the other players. The top player from each team in the group will go to the semi-finals.
The maps will be 4-player maps and will not have any AI interference.
You must pick a race and stick with it throughout the tournament. Make it clear what group you want to be in and what team on the group. Look at the table below before making a decision.
You are allowed to change your group or team up to 3 times before the start of the tournament. You can change your faction at any time during the tournament on a per-game basis. Once 24 of the 32 slots are taken, you will not be allowed to change your team or group.
In order for a game to count, at least one observer should be monitoring the game. Preferably recording it. The observer and at least one other player should save a copy of the admirals log. Send me a PM containing the admirals log.
Spying, as defined as observing a game and feeding a particular player or team with information about another player or team, is not allowed in this tournament. The team with the spy will be disqualified from the tournament and the other team will automatically advance to the next round.
Send me a PM to apply for the tournament.

erm there is already a tournament running, i think you should put this tournament aside until the other tournament is over.

I fail to see the goal behind this kind of tournament/game. What use is it to be neutral? What use is it to ally during game? Team games are most fun when teams are even in skill and numbers.

i'm willing to play in any sensible tourney that is made up. but i think making a new tourney while the old one is still running is a bit silly. its best to wait til the end of the current tourney before starting a new one.

I have to agree with myles. The last time I had an alliances game was ages ago. Personally I don't think there is much skill involved in an alliances game because all you can do is build up a million forces and let everything lose, or attack someone and end up having a 5vs1.

i think u misunderstood my sentiment, i would happily join this tourney and play in it. but not while there is already a tourney running. to keep it simple and easy for all i recommend that this tourney be put on hold til the current tourney is over.
i have a feeling that alliances games are kinda like ffa games, turtling tech races lol. but i would play anyway as i love a challenge.

alliances are worse than ffa cause everyone starts to form cliques and then decides to wipe one person out altogether

true, but in ffa that is cowardly and dishonourable, but politics and backstabbing is intended in an alliances game, the options are there for it on purpose.
if u want to win you may have to lie and stab someone in the back.

There's a way to make everyone an enemy.

I updated the rules. Rule updates are in red on the first post.

By the way, you might not have to win a single game in this tournament. The winner is determined by who has the most points at the end of the tournament. Up to 7 people can play in a single game. The eighth slot will be reserved for an observer.

Though I actually like the idea, I don't think its a good idea to start a second torny at the same time as the other one.

I'll wait until the other one is over. The tournaments will have a maximum of 7 players per game. Oh and, I'm making another update to the rules. You won't be allowed to switch everyone to neutral just so you can gain enough of a fleet to wipe them out instantly.

Points are a completely misleading sign. Points are not accurate in any way. I highly recommend you do not use the point system for ANYthing.
Fighters at the moment count as "built ships" which give points as if they were built and destroyed. Supply mined gives points, giving an enormous advantage in points to Borg and Dominion.
Points are arbitrary and misleading. I highly recommend you rethink using them.

passive probes also count as build ships and you could rank up ships on them... i think it counts as destroyer
