Here you can arrange online encounters and reminisce over past online battles.

I wouldnt mind being added, but why is it always a 1v1, cant you do a mix up like randomly generate a team, and do 2v2,3v3 ect...

Balancing is different for team games. 1v1 is the most rigorously tested setup so it's the least likely to make people frustrated.
If Clint and I teamed up as x2 Klinks I'd love to see people's reaction to quadruple KBQ spam

Kestral et al.
Based on the success or failure of this tournament, a 2v2 tourney will be considered. Balancing is getting quite good and should only get better with the race redos. There are some logistical issues to consider but it is definitely on my mind.
Anyways, a few 1v1's never hurt!

Uh but i said random teams so people cant complain, it would be no different to a 1v1, one of the players is always going to be better than the other so if you want to argue that then these 1v1s are going to be unbalanced also.

sadly random teams would be very frustrating for some.
Imagine if a good player (like clint) got randomed to be an ally with a weak player (like myself) and had a 2v2 with 2 players of similar stength to clint (say elim and butterbread). i would drag clint down with me to grethor, and he would rightly feel like luck was his downfall. Even 1 player being weak will make a 2v2 unbalanced.

I would be really up for a 2v2 tourney, but I think we don't have enought players yet for that. We can try it but I have a feeling that there would be 2-3 teams that would rofl stomp all the others. ( Boggz+Clint double kling, Butters+Timmy double feds, Sütee+Elim quad HSA for example
) Doing a 2v2 tourney with random teams wouldn't attract any ppl at all I guess....
Oh btw, there is a nice site made by Lupus Official Fleet Operations League 2011 , he put a lot of energy into that, probably we could use it to organise an experimental 2v2 tourney.

Now imagine Clint vs some random noob ill say you since you claimed to be one (1v1)
Not really fair is it, thats the way a tournament is. So altho a larger game will be a different kind of game.... thats the way it is.

In a random 2v2 teams, a good player could drop because the other player in his team made mistakes which lead to defeat. In 1v1 the players don't need to worry about losing because of other's mistakes.
In my opinion, a 2v2 tournament would be best with pre decided teams.

exactly as zebh put it, the point isnt that 1 team will be stronger than the other, its that a strong player could play well, but lose because of a weaker player being on their team. in a 1v1 between a good player and a weak player, the good player wins as expected most times. and nobody is left feeling like they lost cos of bad luck. in a 1v1 all your mistakes are your own, nobody to blame but yourself.

The glass is half empty instead of half full... thats the view you have, how about looking at it from the other side instead of always thinking about how the better players will feel being teamed with noobs.
Larger games like 2v2, 3v3 ect will give noobs a fighting chance of actually winning a game since they may be teamed with better players.
Noobs vs vert in a 1v1.... hmm not fair.
noob and vet vs vet and vet.... better for the noob.
I understand that doing random teams might screw it up a little if it comes out and its 2 noobs vs 2 vets but it isnt really any different to a noob vs a vet in a 1v1 which happened very often in the last 2 tournaments. Larger games gives noobs a better chance, forget about how the vets feel about it.

no i'm afraid of elim's b5 rush, cuz as borg once i put CC's into a ship i can't get it back! >:(
he goes bombers i go dode
then BAM! he cancels and go b5 and BAm i already wasted 15 cc on dode which i can't get back!
I hate how I as a BORG player can't target fighters first! >:(
most of that damage output from the fighters kills me!

maybe in mid game a multi beam sphere could whack those fighters, it would take reduced damage from them, and splitting damage wouldnt be a problem as the fighters wouldnt be able to repair/take any damage.
