I don't want to sound like an expert, or overly critic, but as others have pointed out there's a glaring error in the length of these sound bites.
You may have noticed it sounds a bit off, or not as usual strategy game voices do. That's because the voice clips drag on too long. They're gonna get annoying when all you do is click a unit, and a 5 second sound file plays every time.
Point of what I'm trying to say is: Professional sounds bites in strategy games are of a strictmaximum of 4 words in length.
Check it out, check your favorite game. Check every strategy game you know. Command and conquer? StarCraft? Star Trek Armada? It's always like this. It actually becomes a problem because in writing there's only so much you can say in 4 words. But any more, and it starts getting annoying.
Let me please close off by saying the sounds bites are superb. The game is superb, and by God I coulnd't create anything remotely close to this. I just wanted to point out the length discrepancy between other strategy games and what you've created. If you think it should be this way, it should definitely be this way.

Just from Armada/Armada 2
"We serve only the Star Empire"
"It is more brave to live, than to die"
"Arm phasers and quantum torpedoes"
"Mr LaForge Redirect all power to the engines"
"Perhaps today is a good day to die"

Okay so retrospectively, I kind of knew that someone would do research and prove me wrong on my 'its never ever more than 4 words' claim.
So first of all let me admit that I was wrong on that. But you have to admit that most of the strategy game voice acting does follow the rules I posted, right?
What Squire James posted were the exceptions, and whilst he did well to pointing them out, I personally find some of them to have been the most annoying among the voice over lines in Armada 2.
Then again; I do not find all of them annoying. So there possibly is a way to not adhere to the 'rule' is posted and still be awesome. Which has been demonstrated in Fleetops anyway.

Hello, from what I understand, work on the FleetOps mod for Armada 2 has been canceled in favor of creating a new Star Trek RTS game using the NX engine; https://www.fleetops.net/news/item/246- ... operations
There is work being done to the new game, but since it's in very early Alpha there hasn't been anything to really see, at least until they get done with the foundation of the engine and start adding in units and graphics.
I admit that I'm pretty antsy for an update as well, but you've got to keep in mind that the team aren't full time developers, they're doing all of this in their free time.

Every so often, the ezEngine people and Fleet Ops NX devs pop in to say "We ain't dead", but are very minimal with any specifics on their progress.
