hmm, although i had suggested a different way of doing this, i guess we can try and see, one feture i do not want to see lost is a feature i suggested for flagships (which i guess can be fore hero ship, there pretty much the same)

and that is having control over a fleet with just one ship, when you activate the fleet control button or somthing like that (flee meaning 16 ships that you assign the numbers to) where you can control where the fleet attacks with just that one ship, and you can also control all there special weapons

But what you are proposing has exactly the same effect as pressing any of the numbers you assigned fleets to.

I think he just wants a way to get more than 10 fleets in a hotkey: so that you can just select 2 veteran ships and have them as a fleet, and that will be actually 32 ships because each veteran "controls" 16.  :lol:


Which is why I said there would be even less micromanaging.

on another note; one slight niggle i had with the previous incarnations was  rank icons* appearing on screen even without units being selected, wasnt the biggest fan of that would rather it be selectable view only.  still no biggee prolly

I rather like the rank icons appearing on screen, because then you can tell at a glance which ships you should attack, and which ones you really want to save  :thumbsup:

Great idea!

What kind of special features/abilities are you looking at giving veteran ships?  Can we expect some really different features or maybe crossover special abilities, or will they be more like stat bonuses?

there will be all kinds of veteran abilities, similar to officer abilities. some increase stats, some add new weapons, modify special weapons or even add new special weapons

wud it b possoble to have a gui icon slot (like the avatars) for each vteran / hero with a mini stat bar so we can keep a eye on them and move to them easir

It would be cool if all veteran ships give a small boost to surrounding ships as well, kind of to show how they are fighting more furiously, inspired by the veterans.

But all in all really nice work guys.  :thumbsup:

I really love this idea; gives player's the choice of which ships to make veteran and thus what abilities to deploy. My only fear is that you poor guys will run out of ideas for abilities! *lol*

(Can definetly see one day a "Vet force V horde" Assault map or SP level)

But yeah, look foward to seeing all the abilities, especially this one for the Borg; oh the possibilities!

Wow, that´s great, can´t wait to see what my favorite ship classes get.  :woot:

On a side not, what about mixed tech ships ? I guess they will just receive the same bonus as the normal ship class, whatever they will be... :lol:

I also had an idea for the Borg: Speakers.

Something like, Locutus of Borg, Martok of Borg, Sela of Borg and so on. I saw this once in the star trek card game, they had these "locutus versions" for all playable races, to give them advantages over them.
