Warpin Project

Well, I decided to take a little side project. I know, NEF is not done, I'll have to check with Tyler on his progress. But for the moment, I would simply like to list the material to be in this pack.

- Galaxy Class*
- Galaxy Venture*
- Galaxy X**
- Nebula Class
- Melbourne Class
- Phoenix Class (As most people know, the Nebula Sensor Refit)

*Tyler may have his version, this version uses a different set of models, and for those who don't like 'clones', no regs ;)
** The Galaxy X is planned to be in the Experimental Call. Some tool tips will be altered.

Concepts:

Galaxy Class:
Same as in Stock FO

Galaxy Venture:
Similar, but has the ability to use multi-target phasers rather than multi-target torpedoes

Galaxy X:
This Galaxy will have quantums instead of regular photons. And have the ability to use its Phaser Cannon at Rank 4.

Nebula Class:
Instead of the rather distasteful pulse, it will have two torpedoes. It is given the toggle ability to switch to Quantum torpedoes, and also the special ability burst fire photons. The Quantum mode deals less shots per second, and decreases shield recharge.

Melbourne Class:
This is given a simple phaser and a single torpedo. This ship as two abilities, one is the ability to accelerate the ship briefly. The other is to dump warp particles basically disabling engines of any ships within. (The only problem is I need a nebula that can pull off the appearance of Warp particles.) The warp particle cloud only lasts a few seconds.

Phoenix Class:
This is also given a Simple phaser and torpedo. But, like the stock nebula. It has the ability to boost sensor range. But instead of a large offensive downgrade, it only gets a minor one, Phaser power is cut down to a third, and torpedoes are disabled. But it unlocks the ability to use an artillery range graviton ping. This ability is a toggle ability. Another ability cuts the sensor range down to standard range to boost the shield recharge. This is also a toggle ability. But Photon Torpedo accuracy is slightly reduced.

I look forward to opinions. I will need an odf person for the weapon ordinance files. Other than that I'm fairly set.

I'd be careful with the Galaxy-X, make it too much like the shows version and there will likely be hell.

Why use a different Galaxy? Just remove the Registry... it's not like you'll find many models nearly as good as that one.

I think you should make the nebula have the three refits as replaceweapon pods. sensor refit, regular science refit, and 4 nacelle refit with obvious bonuses.

I tried before, all attempts ended in a screwed up mess. :pinch:

To me, the Melbourne is not a nebula class, but rather a class of its own. Plus I often don't like the hassle of refit systems. XD

Melbourne is a Nebula Class, one of two varients like it. There's actually at least 5 Nebula varients. When I added them in, I put them as seperate Warp-Ins, though (lazy is good).

  • Nebula - The normal design.
  • Bonchune - Similar to the Nebula design with minor alterations. Appeared prominently in the latter stages of DS9 and while it actually appeared in "Message in a Bottle".
  • Phoenix - Sensor varient.
  • Melbourne - Wolf 359 Nebula, two smaller nacelles mounted aft above the saucer.
  • Prototype II - The "original" Melbourne Class, has two minor nacelles protracted away from the main hull at aft while it's main nacelles are connected to a nacelle-holder that is basically the Galaxy nacelle-holder upside down.
  • Prototype III - A variation on the Prototype I, has elements of the original Nebula and Bonchune variants. It appears in Sisko's office but was built as a predecessor to the Melbourne model for BoBW.

Ehhh, variants? I understand how you can see that. I simply see it more or less refits at the least. But more often as individual classes. The Melbourne shows some resemblance. Though basically, would you call the New Orleans a variant? Similar Saucer and hull, just different nacelle cfg and no pod.

@Bonchune
I never heard of that name. Is this the weapon pod version? Or is that the Fighter Carrier?

New Orleans has nothing in common with the Nebula, aside from having the same basic components as nearly every Starfleet ship. The Melbourne, though, is identical to the standard Nebula in every way except extra Nacelles instead of a pod. Would you class the Phoenix as a seperate class? The Nebula/Melbourne differences are virtually identical to the Nebula/Phoenix differences.

I think the Bonchune is the fightercarrier with the elongated engineering hull and an extra structure on the hull (the carrier is either Bonchune or Prototype III).

the Bonchune variant or USS Bonchune NCC 70915 has also been in first contact at the battle above earth besides the Prometheus incident with the Romulans

Hi, long time lurker first time poster.  I don't really know much about modding copyright rules but I was curious why it would be bad to make it look like the shows version?

i dont think the problem was about copyright, just that people would not like it lol

welcome to the forums, hope to see u on tunngle soon

Because here, balance is first, looks is second, and canon is fourth. :P

, that explains the negh-var getting dumbed down vs another station especially with those huge disruptor bolts.

Yeah, and the G-X was quite unbalanced with its Negh'Var killer.

Well, I'll just dumb it down to a Vorcha killer.
