but the gun is right next to the ramming scoop, so any time u ram u risk damaging the gun. unless the gun is armoured too, and is used for spearing the enemy. and also fires the bullet.

This is Warhammer 40k.  They weren't exactly striving for realism or practicality.

A gun is replaceable, a ship is not. Imperial ships are known to be scavenged and built from pieces. Most likely that central weapon was an after-thought, as ironclads are old designs, primarily designed to ram through enemy vessels.

well the luna class cruiser has 3 port weapon batteries 3 starboard weapon batteries, 2 port lance batteries, 2 starboard batteries, 6 forward torpedo bays (found in the ships nose) and a mass of anit fighter/bomber turrets. the front ram is mainly used as a last resort attack (all weapons down and enemy is side on good chance to plow thru it lol) the game is called Warhammer 40,000 Battlefleet Gothic and its rule book is free to download from Games Workshop site

the way you described this big gun makes it seem costly and high tech.

i would think a big gun is hard to replace. but if this series' canon says its easy to replace then thats fine by me.

It's a relatively low tech and low maintainance weapon - all you are doing is accelerating a slug to very rapid velocities - so it's basically a tube  ^-^

if thats what the warhammer canon uses for guns then it makes sense.

i thought it was some energy gun, or something special lol.

lance weapons are beams
the nova cannon is a projectile that is shot to almost light speed and then implodes (incase some people dont know imploding a solid mass can lead to nuclear explosion or blackhole)

With Riker and Troi aboard, it was bound to happen.

This is 40k, Commanders have their tanks drive closer so they can hit the heretics with chainsaw swords.

The ram is used whenever appropriate. Like when you maneuver around the Ork ramming ships.

No, the Tau use railguns. The Imperials usually use giant lasers and cannons.
