A new version of the Prometheus Class, from the Starbase 34 Compilation Mod (I seem to like them recently...) I didn't add this to the existing thread because it is several pages in and would likely be overlooked, while it is too big to be added to the first post.

Changes include:
  • New model: More detailed, better lighting, Saucer Nacelles are turned off when combined and become active when seperated.
  • Torpedo launchers are present on the model (with the appropriate Hardpoints). The Saucer now had Torpedoes because they are on the model, while the lower Stardrive Photon's have been moved to the upper Stardrive because that is the only one of the two with launchers on the model.
  • An aft firing launcher is on the saucer model (and the same place on the combined model), which is used for aft firing torps.
  • The lower Stardive has a Tractor Beam in a fitting place, while the combined ship also has a Tractor beam in the exact same place.
  • Borg Textures are included

Mmmm... :hungry: Can't wait for an Ares Class with all the light maps... glows... and stuff. I like an Ares class if done right. So far the ones already made barely have anything beyond flat ol' textures... minimum lighting... and no glows! :yucky: I expect great things Tyler... So surprise me with your best shot... (Which of course in order to do so... your talking about High Poly thrown in the mix as well)

If I can find a decent model, I can have a go. I wouldn't be surprised if Adm Zaxxon already has an Ares planned.

something looks off... I understand about the quality due to storm3d... but I mean as far as the shape goes.  :blink:

i'm no expert, but i could have sworn that the very top part of the ship had a small Nacell in the very top that kinda sunk down when combined, and came up when seperated.  it shouldnt have any Nacells on the bottom.

i could be wrong, it has been a few years since i've seen that voyager episode.
i remember thinking, "that Nacell is pretty close to the bridge module"

This ship comes from the Starbase 34 compilation mod, where it is a full-production ship. Full-production probably means varients exist, which is what I normally consider this to be.

The Saucer nacelles aren't the only difference, the original doesn't have the Torpedo launchers anywhere on the hull as far as I know.

The origianal does have a nacelle on the bottom, where the 'head' of the upper Stardive connects to the Saucer.

Well, if you want to do the aries you can.  I would like to do it, but you obviously have more time than I do.  I am also doing other larger mods at the moment, so I don't know when it would get done.  Not for a few months thats for sure.

I have an Ares Class downloaded, but don't know anything about it. Does anyone have any info on the design? You know; Weapons, general size, crew compliment, ect.

Starship Info:
After the successful tests of the USS Prometheus in 2374, the Starfleet Corps of Engineers discovered that they could integrate many of the superior tactical systems into a singular, non-integrated starship.
The result was the Ares class, a "Fast Attack" Cruiser with the same external size as the Promethius,
and much more internal volume and simplicity (due to the fact that there are no docking plates or tritanium/duranium hulls in the internal area).

Starfleet's purposes for the "Fast Attack" vessels is to be able to explore the outskirts of known space,
and even unknown space; and to be able to return quickly to defend the Federation if the need arises.
Equipped with pulse-firing torpedo launchers, type XII phasers, and thick ablative hull armor,
Ares class is a formidable vessel with a the ability to explore science as well(10 science labs).
The primary objective of the USS Ares is to explore unknown space and to patrol the outlying systems of Federation territory.

yep.  I don't think it was well armed though.  In the game it used pulse phasers like the mini quantum pulse cannons used by the canaveral, but in a row like the the ones I used for the achilles.  It has no torpedo launchers, and (because of the color of the strips, and its future tense) I would give it blue phasers.  That is just how I would do it.  I don't know how you would.
