can you explain what retreat marker and crew retreat strength do?

Retreat strength is what percent of the total their hull strength needs to drop to before they try to run, crew retreat is the same for crew levels.

Where do they run to? o.O
In my opinion Klingons are better warriors then Jem'Hadar as they have decades of learning fighting tactics and strengthening their physics, whereas Jem'Hadar are just produced, young, drug addicted(well, that one may go for Klingons, too
), dumb and often not as loyal as the Vorta and Founders think. There were several episodes where they killed the Vorta, had a different opinion or were at least kind of bored by life.
Problem: Beam weapons kill you, doesn't matter how honorable you are(exceptions are the first TNG Klingon, The First DS9 Jem'Hadar and the Borg).

Obviously the run to the nearest yard for repairs.
Klingons are better fighters in the short term, but as said before the Jem'Hadar never tire, don't need food (aside from white, but running out makes them worse than normal) and don't weaken themselves with the unneeded honor that impares the Klingons abilities.
'Honor before reason' means honor makes you do stupid things (like using mostly heavy blades at a distance when the enemy uses phasers). Beam resistence has nothing to do with it (that's a trait seemingly unique to the true augments).

Ah, cmon, you can't say honor is dumb!
Where is your middleage romantic after all those Klingon episodes?!
I think honor makes the Klingons stand longer in a fight than the longing for white does for the Jem'hadar. Klingons still use also beam weapons, hand to hand is just more fun, besides they owned the Feds on that one planet(don't remember the name, 4th season of DS9 with Jake and Bashir I think) and the Feds are experts in beam weapons... they can't be that bad then.

Star Trek authors were always bad in weapons technics and battles...
Close combat always looked ridiculous, think about the klingons waiting to get punched by Kira

Hollywood tactics make for amusing shows, though. Especially if people with no training know better than the 'experts'.
Honor is good and does have use in fights, but taking it too far can be very bad because it overrides common sense. Direct hand-to-hand may be honorable and fun, but holding up a blade and charging across a room to swing at a person with a Phaser is not a very bright idea.
A lot of Klingon strength comes from being vicious fighters who are largely resistent to morale killers.
