Why the Excalibur hate? It's a decent design... but I do agree that it should probably not be a part of FO.

It wouldn't be the first Federation ship to deviate from the standard 'Constitution shape'.

I know, but the way it does it is just so tasteless! Contrast that with the Defiant, Akira, or Nebula classes and you'll see what i mean.

I know... stick the Necelle Pylons up at an angle and it'll look like an horribly obeise Sovereign, though

I love the Excalibur class. I usually conveniently ignore the transwarp drive part though, instead tending to imagine it as the centre of a deep-space task force. Imagine my excitement when I learnt of the Excalibur Project!
