If you go to Memory Alpha  they have a page on the Saladin/Hermies classes. just do a search for Saladin/ Hermies classes, there is a lenghty discussion on that page  on the cannon  authenticty of the designs . Many other sites state the  Akula's  was based on those Space frame components. If you look at the Saladin Hermies Classes   you can see the family resemblence of  the  Akyazi Type  starship (Main) class and the  Akula , and Arbiter Sub classe's. A close parelell  is the  Constitution class  and the  later refits of the Constitution  class.

I know all about the Saladin, Hermes and Akula... I use them often enough.

The information is in the background section, which is where non-canon but accepted by MA is put. If it was actually canon, it would be in the main article. Plus, there is no Akyazi or Akula articles on Memory Alpha.

I agree that we may never agree on this topic. However I feel the Akula that is in the jpg's I posted is BUTT UGLY.

The Son'a were confirmed to be helping the Dominion during the war, and unlike the Cardassians, the Dominion did not betray them.

Well those 'Akula' pics are not of what I was thinkin about. I was thinkin about the more common (twin nacelle vertical form) version. That... I would not refer as an Akula.

That is I feel a major problem of Fan based  ships being given  known cannon names. Which  can and has  added  much confusion to  some disscusions.

I'm allergic to non-canon, but only when it is classless. And lurking without logging in has shown me that this forum now has two separate groups. Those who mod the mod to death and those who are competitive. No offense to either group, I'm sorry if I fail to appreciate the former.

I think the SoulWolf is ridiculous. I think it's constantly changing back story is ridiculous. I think it is ugly. The most recent story I read on it is that it's a 25th century star ship whose class includes the Enterprise G? XFD.

The Akula to me is the ship portrayed in SFC. That ship I like, for the role that it fills in that game. The posted one to me...is so...strange.

The Dauntless is not even a starfleet vessel, how it would fit into FO daunts me.

The Terix looks like a ship the Romulans would have employed in the TMP Era (likely with a white and orange paint scheme). And although it is very cool I think it is a very unfortunate reimagining of the King Condor class from SFC with a modern twist. It is a cool ship but not right for FO.

And now I appreciate your tact, drive and abilities at importing ships into FO, but I find these threads wasteful, why not...mod the mod as you will and post your exploits for those of us who are interested to download?

I only say this because I think you may find opinions out there that will offend you if you host threads such as this one, I mean...unlike most people here the Excalibur is my least favorite star ship of all, god I hate that thing. People have to understand that in the series on television when have you ever seen a Starfleet Super-Battleship? Starfleet seems to be made up of (to me) a large variety of well maintained and long lasting specialized cruisers with a few heavy cruisers and Battle-cruisers (depeding on how you class the Sovereign, Akira, ect) and large Explorers (Galaxy class, ect) that can be called into action to provide the role of a Dreadnought in fleet warfare. Obviously supported by many frigates and destroyers, I mean to be honest aside from the obvious focus on dedicated carriers Starfleet seems to resemble the current American navy.

In SFC the back story to their Dreadnoughts and Battleships is that they were extremely few in number and were more often mothballed than called into action (and only in dire need).

But I digress, to each their own. I will be playing vanilla FO for life. (Although I was extremely tempted to download the Galor as it is one of my favorite vessels of all time).

Amen! Why does everyone like that horrible ship? it's gigantic, no sleek lines or anything, and it's supposed to have a transwarp drive!

Aye Rhaz . Incidentally, I believe we will get the Galor, Keldon, and other Cardassian ships once the NPC faction is reintroduced in a future version
