As a matter of fact, the vessels were described as Valdore classes in the movie (I think) and one of the vessels was named IRW Valdore so...yeah, the Scimitar is awesome, and I don;t get the thing with the Norexans.

Since when were they described as Valdore class? In the movie, all that was stated was "I am Commander Donatra of the Warbird Valdore". If we use that logic to say that it was a Valdore class, rather than the name of the ship, then why would other Romulan commanders state the name of their ships, rather than the class
The reasoning behind Norexan is described in the other thread

On the quandry of the Valdore... Is it a Ship class or a name of a ship ? I think some folks fail to realize is there is the same "Problem" for the Feds Defiant . It was Both a ship class designator and a Actual Ships name .

Just because this is the first time we see the Nemesis style warbirds doesn't mean and it doesn't imply that they're new. It also shouldn't for any reason imply that the Valdore id the lead ship of the design. Now, the Norexan name is also contradicted by the book, which call it the Mogai class. Personally i'll stick with Norexan.

Well, you couldn't call it Mogai anyway. That's the Construction ship...

Actually, the Federation has the "tradition" of naming ship classes after the first ship of the class. The first Constitution class ship was the Constitution and, yes, the first Galaxy class ship was the USS Galaxy. I think it even appears in one episode of TNG. So it makes sense that the first Defiant class ship is the USS Defiant.
That doesn't mean the Romulans or Klingons do the same.

Hey, now Memory Alpha states that those vessels were the Valdore class, and that it is official Star Trek cannon! >:( Now, I can say though, does Fleetops really take place in the original Star Trek timeline........a lot of people say no, and I agree. So, because this is an alternate timeline, the Valdore was named the Norexan. But, a lot of places, including the guy who MADE UP the entire Valdore/Norexan design claims it to be a Valdore. So there. Now my fingers are tired of typing so much in such a short amount of time.

Memory Alpha says 'Valdore-type'... Anyone who knows how Memory Alpha works would know that 'type' is different to 'Class'. It is used to identify vessels of an unknown Class by the most well known vessel of that Design.
The same as it calls the USS Centaur a Centaur-type, rather than a Centaur Class.

always thought the tavara type looked like the valdore type of ship, but think scimitar should be one off specialist ship, with massive high stats but a one only build limit, wud be wicked to take it down

Maybe, if the first one we saw was the first one built... the show never went into detail on Klingon shipyards. 1 ship isn't enough to start a trend.
