I understand that people think that the SOD is screwed... but it works fine in stock armada 2. But this is a major thing I could use... Don't worry guys. There are HP maps of the original locations and my preception of my wanted locations. So it will greatly reduce the work.
Plus I have opened this in Assimsoft before... just sometimes Assimsoft has minor buggs goin on...
Look, I guess I'm asking too much... if I am just admit it.
Here is the Assimsoft thingy I used... I can't figure it out properly...

Ive had zero luck with the assimview stuff in regards to changing hp's and such....about all i can use if for is to make hp maps and then if I edit anything it just crashes....and also assimview is not compatible with all sods Ive found. Im not gonna place blame on the sod itself cuz I belive you when u say the sod is fine. Ive encountered this issue before.
Btw when I say assimview I also mean utmv as utmv is basicly assimview yet with a more "friendly" UI....

Sorry to poke my nose in here but i've been looking for this tool for the longest time, how do you get it to load a SOD? i pointed it to a borg cube in the fleetops directory but it crashed with "Cannot Load LCARS Bitmap"...

Why not use a different Excelsior that comes with non-screwed hardpoints?

Well, this is the only well polied Excel-B. Plus I already fixed up the textures...
This isn't FLOPS in origin, plus also I put the SOD in the obj directory as well as 24-bit textures in the texture directory. Here is a scrnshot of it in wireframe mode when I was attempting to fiddle with it with no luck figuring out how the coordinate system works.

As Excelsiors go, that one is below average. The poor Hardpoints for one thing. Try a better one; Excelsior Refit, Star Trek: Armada 2 Downloads, Star Trek: Armada 2 ENT, TOS and TMP
Assu7ming you can get the damn thing to show up...half of it isn't there!

Gagh! I was able to load it but there are so many glows half the points I can barely depict!

It's that blasted sprite file that comes with it. It would be better if the readme had the lines to add instead of trying to make us guess...

No, I'm talking about the SOD. I loaded it in Assimsoft and there is a rediculous about of glow points.

Tyler I tried that excelsior also cause I think it looks great. And for the life of me I cant get it to go. You actually got it to show up?
Ive added Adm. Zaxxon's Achilles and Miranda and they both work great. Whats wrong with this excelsior !!!

Nope, but others seem to have that same problem. It might need a texture from the stock game or having the lightmap on one section removed...I'll have to try to find out when I get the time.
Neither the readme or description says anything about it.

You guys do know you can apply a filter to the hardpoints shown right? that way it wouldnt show all the "glow" points. you maybe have to experiment a lil with the filter to get it to hide what u want though....the filter should be under the "hardpoints" tab.

I give up with the Excelsior, it seems to think some of the lightmaps are textures. The only way to get the screwed textures to work is to remove the lightmaps on them, which would require getting rid of the light on the working textures so it doesn't look weird.
Stupid textures think the black on a lightmap means 'nothing there' instead of 'not lit up', and I'm not sure if replacing the sprite file will screw up FO.
There goes my veteran Excelsior...
