I'm guessing you also have the Roots mod installed on your system (or had it in the past). If so, these crashes in TM come from a conflict with Roots because the two mods share the same user folder (I've already coordinated with Tryptic that future versions of TM will have a different user folder). To fix this conflict in the meantime delete your user folder:
C:\Users\[pc_name]\AppData\Roaming\Star Trek Armada II Fleet Ops Config where [pc_name] is your username on your PC (without the brackets), TM will then automatically reset all settings and that should resolve the conflict.

I deleted the folder and actually had to config everything on the new launch of the game - but it doesn't change anything, it crashes mercilessly on startup.

That error location/code has come up in the past with compatibility setting issues. Try changing compatibility settings, including "High DPI Scaling Settings", also try that for ArmadaL.exe in the \Data folder.

I have tried several compatibility settings, but it still crashes every time. Also full screen and windowed mode, no difference. With version 5.0.3 it still worked, the problem only exists since the current version 5.0.4. In addition, there have been no other changes to the system or the settings.

The procedure is always the same with a new version:

1. delete the contents of the TM folder
2. install the new version in the empty TM folder

Then I don't know. Nothing about the game engine changed between version 5.0.3 and 5.0.4. A Windows updating forcing the wrong DPI scaling settings is much more likely to be the cause (has happened to other people). To know for sure if it's a scaling issue take a screenshot of the main menu, then open that in paint and check the pixel size (should be 1200x900) of the main menu, if it's bigger than that then the crash is 99% certain to be caused by a scaling issue.

Checked it, the main menu has 1200 x 900 px - like before.

What else is noticeable: The background image is missing when loading, i.e. always a white background. See screenshot - I've never had this before.

Yeah, that is really weird. It is a graphics issue of some kind. What happens when you open a map with the map editor?

P.S. have you restarted your PC yet after changing the DPI scaling settings? That worked for someone before.

Restart didn't help, also a reinstall not.. I still think that there is not a problem with my system cause of the white loading screen. Perheps the following screenshots can help.

Those error codes indeed indicate the game crashes on loading of textures. If you reinstall TM 5.0.3 does everything work again?

Also, what happens if you create a new, blank map in the map editor?

EDIT: I just downloaded TM 5.0.4 myself and am also getting these crashes. I'll see if I can track it down to help Tryptic fix it for the next release.

EDIT 2: There are hundreds of texture files missing in 5.0.4 that were in 5.0.3, including stuff that's required for space backgrounds. So no wonder it crashes. The most recent modified dates are all from before 5.0.3 was released, so you can just copy the texture files from 5.0.3 to 5.0.4, for me that stopped the crashes. I'll let Tryptic know on Discord so he can fix it for the next release.

I have copied all files from the textures folder to 5.0.4 (but not overwritten newer files) and when starting a game the background is now back. Nevertheless, a crash occurs. I suspect that we will actually have to wait for a new version 5.0.5...

EDIT: I have to correct myself, some of the maps are now working. For example, the map ‘The Da'ka Corridior’ is still not working

Are these the largest maps (over 35k)? Try changing the value of #define threat_map_resolution to 550 in the main AIP settings file (in the AI folder), that's a known issue that I've reported to Tryptic because a long time ago I also had it happen in an early version of the Roots mod.

I've changed it to 550, but it's crashing again.

Sorry, but the map ‘The Da'ka Corridior’ is still not working with the new version with 5.0.5. :(

(Crash when loading.)

It's something specific to that map, probably some unique object. I can't debug it because it crashes even in TM 5.0.3, you'll have to ask Tryptic to fix it.

EDIT: the original creator of that map happens to be on the Fleet Ops Discord. He said there are Klingon turrets on that map so Tryptic has to remove or replace those to stop the map from crashing.

I just cant get this 5.0.5 to run at all. In fact, also 5.0.4 not.

Clean install, and when i try to run Tactical Maneuvers.exe it just dies with an error message, that an error occurred in the application, and close application. The bugreport says access violation in fleetopshook.dll.

(Meanwhile, a separate fleet ops 3.2.7 works without any issues.)
