I would love for some effects (maybe to cover fire?) to make your ships fly around just a little bit. Would make fleet engagements so much more dynamic with just a couple of ships moving around in combat.

Well in stock you can do that. Can anyone tell me how to restor that feature to FO?

No not directors cut; that never made it into A2. If you go into the menuver menu in stock you will find several commands the don't form ships up it makes them move in a certain way when in battle. FO took them out. I want them back.

He means stuff like the clover leaf and circling formation.

You could simulate this with the pathing feature I suppose. :sweatdrop:  Thats how I do it in my BSG mod. :blush:

What you are referring to is a handeled just like formations and can be added or removed like any other formation. Check the stock Armada2 Formations for more information. They don't have much to do with physics.

They related indirectly. The real payoff for having good ingame physics is watching the ships look cool moving around while they fight. For that I need the attack patterns. Otherwise it is not really worthwhile to do all the work overhauling the files in the first place.

In which case, why were they removed from FO?

I assume that means the Clover Leaf and various other types of formations/attack commands - I think the reasoning was that they do not work too well with the flat battlefield of Fleet Ops, nor were what was desired.

well if it's a mod, someone could just un-flatten the battlefield.
