As the title says, can someone explain how I can put warp back into the game. I kinda want all my ships to be able to warp. I have been adding ships in, but can't find a file where I can change warp.

Open the Physics file (e.g. 'smooth_physics_30') and find:

combatspeed = 36
impulsespeed = 36

add beneath that:

warpspeed = XX

*XX = The prefered speed

Thanks Tyler,

Do you happen to know what the default speed for vanilla A2 was.  :thumbsup:

Depends on the ship type, each one moved at a different speed.

Artillery ship = 240
Assault ship = 360
Battleship = 480
Cruiser = 440
Destroyer = 400
Repair ship = 200
Scoutship = 360
Supership = 200

I'm sure those are all the warp-capable ones.

Okay thanks, I just have to play around with it, until I find what speed I like...  :D

Another question, does this need to be added to any file that has physics in it or all of them.  :pinch:

Any ship using a physics file that has a Warp speed set can Warp, if the physics file they use doesn't have it they can't Warp. There's only 18 physics files. The 'warpspeed' entry is already in, but set to -1. Changing that should work better than adding a new line in.

I'd recommend not setting the Warp speed lower than 250, since the highest Impulse is 204.

So the -1 should be changed to 1.

Only if you want to take 3 years in real world time to reach the enemy base... that is what sets how fast it goes. -1 just means it cannot Warp.

Oh okay I get it now...  :lol:

Last question I promise, does the rotate physics also need to be changed with the smooth physics files.

Not sure about that one... Try it without, and change it if it doesn't work.

Okay will do, thanks...  :thumbsup:

Some FYIs about warp:

200 is very slow... I suggest warp to be between 375 and 750. Though the game cannot handle 1000 or higher... everytime I tried something like that the game crashed.

Putting Warp too high will allow you to get across the map too quickly. I said not to set it any lower than 250 because it needs to be faster than the fastest Impulse, not to set it at that speed.

The speed itself can vary with each physics file, as long as the slowest is higher than any Impulse speed. Otherwise it would be very odd...

So i have to add this beyond "warpspeed" or how do i change the warp speed of each ship?

Or is this smooth_physics_30.odf one of the ships above? How do I know which ship it is then?
