Do you have a question on map editing, how use the map manager or want to make your new map public? Post here.

Adm. Wait, you're getting something wrong. A black hole sucks in matter and energy from every side. The acretion disc's orientation comes from the tangential component of an attracted particle stream (and from the angular momentum of the black hole, which we will ignore here). There is no matte sent out by the black hole to create the disk, but the incoming matter forms a disk.

Btw, that "double-funnel" in your picture are gas-jets that are caused by magnetic fields plus the collision with the "inner wall" if the akretion-disk.

Also the black hole is not completly black, and if no mass falls into it, the mass of the black hole even decreases very very slowly (all by Hawkins-radiation).

Hehe, I'm liking the direction of this thread but...

To keep it on track-ish, I must say that what's clear is that a new model (physics and image) are needed for FO... and if we want it to be realistic, it shouldn't be the ones available on Filefront  :whistling:

So it is!

I would propose that there are two models. One without akretion-disk, just a black disk with some glittering around it to reflect the lights bending, and one model woth akretion-disk, which is used when there is a nebula or a star in the surrounding.

Physics of attreaction would be nice.

@ mimesot

The pic I used was just the first one I saw.  It just happened to have funnel like shapes.  :sweatdrop:

Anyway like Dom said this is still trek so it doesn't have to be perfection.  Also I like your model idea, it is very cool.

I motion that the devs spend time on the fed redo in 3.0.8 and spend 3.0.7 on new map stuff and crates! all in favor, say aye! ;) ;) ;)

I motion that we hire them if we are going to tell them what to do.

Good point. who has 5 bucks an hour for them? ;) seriously though, if someone were to pay them they should get like 50 bucks an hour! they do amazing work!

 50 bucks an hour. My lab just brought in a comp tech who used to be a grad student with us... my boss had to pay him 100 bucks an hour for figuring out how to unlock the comp tech's old stupid accout where some old MATLAB data was that we needed >:(

   ok 250! going... going... gone! Back on topic. how about white holes?

I think the term you are looking for is suns or stars.

A white black hole is an oxymoron  It is either a Sun or a sun gone supernova, and after a few more steps we aren't sure about, a black hole.

Yes since black holes have so much gravitational pull that not ever light can escape from them.

Ah, unless hes just talking about a gravitational well that isn't strong enough to pull in light, then in essence it would be a white hole(or any other color)

Actually, i'm talking about the exact opposite of a black hole (basically something that is spewing matter at a tremendous rate). While not actually seen, it is theorized that they exist and seem like a natural counterpart to black holes.

It is not theorized that they exist RCIX, for the simple reason that it is quite impossible  . Unless you consider black holes and white holes to be of the same theory (how it currently is thought, due to Hawkings radiation), a distinct white hole is not possible because something that is spewing matter would immediately collapse and form a well of infinite gravity.... a black hole/
