Can you perhaps give a summary of what these maps are please? I'm not too interested in maps with AI on them as I (and perhaps many others as well) tend to go for the multiplayer option

Okay...............................
You get 4 maps...
1 of them is a good 2-player map made to be a long game for even 1337 P|4Y3R5. It has some AI more towards the inner side of the map.
Another is a good 4 player map with derelicts, the only AI is some turrets and a few scouts and a cruiser or two that usually runs into the turrets and gets blown up anyway.
Finally there are the two (2) 8-player maps. One is a completely open map, no walls nor wormholes, and some (not too much) nebula. The resources are stretched across the map.
The other one is another cell map that holds 4 cells with 2 players each. Some wormholes lead you around an there is nebula surrounding it to reduce incoming cloaked fleets. So stationing neer the wormhole is a good idea.
Okay... there is your description.

Okay, I got a question, for those who haven't downloaded my recent maps feel free to do so.
For those who have, I want to know your opinions, and what improvements I can make in a map.
Also, I want to know if there is a kind of map you want, that you don't see a lot of. Maybe I can make it.

Personally I'd like to see some more interesting 1v1 maps honestly, along with some more 2v2 and 3v3 maps. Ones that preferably do not have AI and ones that do not allow you to easily protect your base (aka, not surrounded by asteroids on 3 sides etc).
'
I have yet to test out your maps in multiplayer, so I'll try to get some feedback as soon as I can.

if U want to make a gr8 1v1 map take what we have now and try to improve it or make it a template for a new map.
Dominus mentioned in some other topic that 'the reef' is a good 1v1 map. i tend to agree with him.
U could try to balance it to be even better (the reef v2
):
if U want to know what i think a good map should have here it is:
EDIT: agreed with Dominus. medium maps are better, like the reef, i had that in mind when i wrote 'big'.

- try to move starting locations so they make a pentagon
- try to move first expansion moons so all starting locations have the same distance to their respective first expansions
- maybe add a few nebulas
if U want to know what i think a good map should have here it is:
- balanced, all starting locations should have the same advantages and disadvantages
- open so there is a room to fight and be sneaky with those cloaked ships even late-game
- should have some key position(s) like the center on 'the reef'. taking a key position should give U an advantage but not instant win
- should discourage campy gamestyle (be opposite of dakara corridor, i dont remember the name
). that means more then one access point to most expasions, no single chock-point, should allow harassment
- should be big should not be small. some races in FO have advantage on small maps, i find bigger maps more balanced
- more then two expansions for each player, this means more then 12 moons on the map. U could also make single moon expansions but easier to defend
- no moon clusters, a single expansion should have no more then 2 moons, maybe 3 for some key expansion but no more then that
EDIT: agreed with Dominus. medium maps are better, like the reef, i had that in mind when i wrote 'big'.

I tend to agree with everything except for small two things.
A medium sized map would do better I believe, either that or have a big map but limit the amount of resources. Borg cannot do well on a large map (3 plus moon sets per player). Cloaking factions and warp in tend to rule large maps.
I think that it is best to always keep expansions as even pairs of moons, otherwise some of the resource imbalances become much more painful for certain factions. For instance, certain maps have a Dilithium expansion of one moon... which will kill Dominion fast.
Other than that, I think all of this advice makes sense... sometimes it is a good idea to limit or not have any nebulae, because they can be hard to balance--especially with the amount of bugs inherent to them at the moment.

Okay... I was thinking of this for a feature in a map, though I wanted to make sure it'd be a good idea. I was thinking of having a small nebula line with a moon pair on each side. The nebula would probably be a destroying one. But I was thinking of this because unarmed stations can be placed against the nebula and then have a little circle of turrets and a few outposts surrounding... is it good or bad?

I actually tried something like this and it didn't work too well. When i played as romulan, i could park Serkas in the nebula in the center and shell the enemy to pieces. Now, that was because i put a blue nebula in but it might work with other types.

1337_64M3R Down loaded and played you sector of defeat map.I have to agree with other posts that the NPC has a very bad habit of wiping the map of everything in its path. I tried to played at least 10 seperate games. In every game the Npc wiped the map clean leaving me with out the bility to build up any thing every time It wiped me clean but left other structures tottally untouched. In one game it totally destroyed my oppponnent except a mining station, no ships stations or any thing else. the ships just sat there for 10 minutes doing nothing. then wiped me off the face of the map save a mining station and a few mining ships . The Npc needs to have a truce timer for at least 15 minutes or untill the NPC bases are atttacked.

NPC never bothered me, they were about as dangerous as a regular AI, even when placed in large numbers. Both ones using Player and NPC units.

Dont get me wrong I like the map "Sector of Defeat" a lot. But the NPC's need a differnt trigger, Since I have played about 12 games so far .I have seen a trend for the NPC to go and wipe out a player on one side of the map , save a lone structure. thus keeping the game going. Then move totally across the map and do the same thing to you.I feel there needs to be a line that you cant cross around the NPC bases in the middle of the map. Any thing above and below that is free for expansion by both players. May be a line of sensor and sentry turrets to mark the area. The asteroid drifts Ide thin them a bit but put Bucketloads of resourses to mine in the stead of the asteroids. just my 2cnts..
