As I am working in the Xfire Game Master team which submits code for new & old games to be supported by the Xfire client. I think FO deserves seperate support in Xfire.
As nobody in the team seems to own a copy of Armada II nobody can verify my submitted code. So I need YOUR help to verify the code from the thread in the official Xfire forums linked below and post in there. It would be nice to have multiple replies (and also have a look at the fixed code for stock Armada II please).
Xfire Forums
How to test the code mentioned in that thread:
1. Find your "xfire_games.ini" (usually in "C:ProgramDataXfire" on Vista/Win7) and add the code like this:
- for the A2 code, just find the old entry in the file and replace it with the new one
- for the FO code, add the code at the bottom of the file with the "XXXX" replaced with "9999"
2. Save & close the file. Keep in mind that any weekly games detection update by Xfire overwrites your file, so make a backup just in case.
3. Now access the options menu of the Xfire client, click the games tab. The game will now read the xfire_games.ini to check which games are installed. A2 and FO should show up in the "Installed Games" list.
4. Run the two games and check if the ingame interface (XIG) and its functions are working properly. If you encounter any problems just report them to me. Otherwise post in the thread on the Xfire forums and report that the code works for you.
Thanks for your help in advance!
Notes:
- XIG doesn't work in the game menus, just in the real game.
- Xfire game page for FO might look like this once it is officially supported: Star Trek: Armada II

I encountered a problem: the "Xfire connection has been established" message appeared repeatedly in a single match. It was apparently due to lag.

Well the ability to broadcast a game live is neat at least (I assume it could record a game too).
That said I dont really see a reason to let folks what what/when I play.

xfire has a recorder i think. dunno if its as good as fraps, never tried it.
im sure if u dont want people knowing what games u play (maybe you play bad games such as big rigs over the road racing, or leisure suit larry
) you can turn that feature off, or hide the facts.

Steam is just as creepy. If you know someones steam account (unless they set their profile to private) you can pretty much see every steam game they've played in the last 2 weeks and for how long they were playing.

I'm not seeing the problem with others knowing what games you like, unless you're ashamed or a conspiracy nut.

Or you dont want a boss to know you're playing at work..... knew a guy thru an army buddy that lost his job because of that.

With Steam it's more a thing of just how much time you've spent playing games instead of doing assignments and homework.
