Where are saved games kept?

Is there anyway to access a save game and copy the file?  I looked through all the folders and didn't find it.  Does anyone know where the singleplayer saved games are kept, and is it possible to access them (i.e., move them to the desktop, give them to another person, etc.?)

In Vista/7

Replace the USERNAME with the username you are logged on (when savegame was created).

(edit: Odd, I was certain that there were no replies when I hit post)
(edit2: The one which works in XP works also in Vista/7)

you missed the Roaming subdir. the fleetops folder is in %appdata% which is %userprofile%application dataroaming

yup my mistake, i read appdata when you typed application data

i still can't save games because of the error  .
i know it hasen't been addressed yet.
