Im curious, whats the general long term plan...the end game for this mod?
What is known for v4...
revamped Feds and Roms
putting more importance on varied fleets and build orders
decent amount of changes to borg("experience"/more Borg like in general gameplay)
map making related stuff
new techtree/aip and odf systems
new npcs
visable registries on Fed ships
So would it be safe to say that the plan for v5 would be like the following?
3rd avatars
6th race
revamped Klings and Doms
finish Borg redo(a true all-in-one base/Borg don't use miners)
territorial bonuses
further developed ai(less cheat-y)
more npc races
"9th" player for map ai or observer
breaking engine boundaries in general
visable names on Klingon ships(not really a Romulan thing and the Borg and Dominion definitly don't do it)
connected maps
And then for v6...
4th avatars
7th and 8th races
Fed campaign
other race campaign(Borg?)
mod tools(built-in like map editor or otherwise)
official intro
breaking more boundaries
Leaving for v7...
other 6 campaigns
final npcs
final epic ai
final major changes period
breaking even more boundaries
How close am I?
How does everyone else see the path to the final version?

i believe the devs have stated that the noxter is the next and probably last race to be added and they'll prob redo dominion, klingon and borg before the next release
not sure if there are plans for more avatars
also i may be wrong but i dont think there are any campaign plans

How can the Noxter be the next and last if the Iconians and Ciaden aren't in?

I hope the Dominion AI is carried over to the other races. They seem to be the only race that actually fortifies their positions. They also seem to be the best at expanding and building up areas. The Klingons are the worst. They will build one secondary mining station and often won't bother building anything else near it like the other races do. Of course the one thing I don't want to see carried over from the Dominion is the ship spamming that they do. That just plain sucks.
I would rather that they focus on existing races than add new races. The Iconians really seem out of place. They would be far more advanced than anyone else including the Borg. The Noxter remind me of species 8472.........and I HATE them with a passion.

Pff, all these weird races. Bring on the Gorn Confederacy or the Tholian Assembly

I want to see a Ferengi faction. They would run everytime you tried to fight them but they would defeat you by slowly bribing all of your ships captains to fight for them turning your own fleet against you.

I like many of the ideas here. I actually hope the Devs do so as well or are already planning some of them.
I would like to see more races in the game, I wouldn't mind seeing the Iconians, Star Trek Online has gotten me wondering about the Iconians since I finished the Romulan featured episodes some time ago. Star Trek Online has also gotten me to see more Federation and Klingon ships that are in that game created for Armada II and for FleetOps as well.

There is not much they can do about the AI as the AI for Armada itself is basic and would be a bitch to reprogram... For Armada it is a build list and then a bunch of numbers that help it assess certain things but very very limited, to be honest it is just crap and always will be.
The dev team focuses on making it the best multiplayer experience possible and so they should... get online if you want a real game.

As far as i know, All race redos will be in the primary or in subreleases of v4
v5's primary feature will probly be, as you guessed: Noxter. (As Far as i know, the Noxter will never ever be cannceled) =D

All I want, is options in the setting to enable warp drive and map depth. Cause you know, Space is 3 dimensions. :/
Oh and for turrets to be cheaper, for all races. Cause federation turrets seem a lot more powerful than the other races.

you won't ever see warp in FO as the idea is you are fighting for a sector of space so why would you be warping all over the place, just makes things messy and I am glad it is gone... use to get right on my nerves in armada II... If you really want it then megadroids mission stuff can enable it...
and also depth adds nothing to the game for a strategy game that is top down facing, just makes everything more messy and complicated when it doesn't have to be... Just because it is doesn't make it better...
Fed turrets have units that counter them by acting as tanks... And the klingon turet is a beast but again is tanked by Monsoons

I wish Armada/fleet ops had the same level of depth game play as was done in the game: "Sins of a solar empire". In that game the point of view of the player could effortlessly go in any direction around the battlefield with ships being able to go in any direction. Of course implementing such game dynamic is probably beyond the abilities of the mod community, even for guys as good as the fleet ops crew.
Wouldn't it be amazing if a game studio, working with people like fleet ops, were to create a new game with up to date game play as well as maintaining the progress we all know and love. Just my daydream, I'm well aware that in reality it'd more likely end up in tears as the studio screw things up.

Hi. I love to play with Fleet Operations and made my own mods, like Perry Rhodan. It's a great strategy game. I start learn modding Star Trek Armada II when I wanted to make a Perry Rhodan Mod for myself. The Mod is available for download from here: http://www.moddb.com/mods/perry-rhodan- ... ek-armada2 .Would be great to include some planets in the Fleet Ops game, not only asteroid belt all over the map :-) Is possible to use the planets from Armada II here in the Fleet Operations maps ?

Warp drive is the most critical part of star trek, it isn't star trek without warp drive. You can't argue that. It simply is.
Secondly, 3 dimensions not adding more strategy to the game? Wow....
Regardless of if you agree or not, they should still be part of settings, it doesn't mean you have to play with them.
