Next playable race. When?

how come noone wants the ferengi as the sixth race.  they are already stealing your ships anyways it would be awesome to play as them.  bribery, sabotage, you could drain away their resources through theft and manipulating their markets.   the possiblities are endless with them and would be a significant difference from the other more militaristice races.  another possibility would be the ability to hire mercenaries like nossikans sp? to fight for you or even have klingons or another in game race come to you rescue........for a price of course.  damn that would be a fun race to play.

I'd love to play as the Ferengi, they're hilarious. On a similar note, if you look at the small avatar icon file (i think it's called avatars_small.tga) there is a picture of a Ferengi avatar. Maybe fleet ops will have a multiplayer mode where everyone has to prove who's the best Ferengi or something of that nature.

Hey, speaking about new races can you guys please just put Species 8472 back into the game? They have been my favorite species in the game since I got it, and are pretty cool too. I think though a good race to put in would be the Xindi. They have a lot of ships, and they also have a superweapon. Or, maybe the Vulcans. They would be cool too. P.S. can someone somehow put in the Narada from the new movie?

i think the vulcans are mostly integrated into the federation, so maybe they can be the 3rd avatar?

You know, I just looked up those other alien species you guys mentioned that you wanted to put in, but I noticed that the Cadeans (or whatever they are) don't exist, and the Iconians are long extinct from an orbital bombardment that wiped them off their planet hundreds of years ago. I checked out two places, and neither had them listed. The noxter are also made up, but whats with the Iconians and Cadeiuns?

wel all i can say is that fleetops plays in the future of the startrek universe and the dev-team developeda own storyline which implements the three new races. mayebe we can see the story, or ven get a singleplyer campain?

Story and SP are planned for faaar in the future.

The story, as I said in the Noxter Introduction thread, is in scattered bits. Try doing a search for Noxter, Ciadan, and Iconian and you are sure to find a wealth of information already out there

Ferengi as playable race would be interesting. You would have latinium instead of supplies. You will have ally NPCs in beginning and put them to do your dirty work, like fighting and mining. The npc takes payment in latinium periodically. And if someone else pays more than you, they could switch sides, depending on how far away the units are. You would use the resources mined by NPCs in trade them with other players. Of course, the trading stations would be needed for that. The prices for each resource is dictated by the laws of supply and demand. You would need to keep constant eye on the exchange market and sell and buy in right time. Ferengi wouldn't build anything by themselves, and they hire different parties to do that too, for pay of course. You could also get ships by buying them from other Ferengi that have collected them from battlefields.

It would be awesome if all your military ships were bought From other races, but warped and towed in by other races, including Fereingi. Like you buy a saber from a junker.  To do this you would have to build a subspace relay, or employ Junkers and bounty hunters to bring you ships.  You build Different Subspace relays for different Junkers, each having their own set of ships they bring to you, and each bringing them at different times.  All ships you buy would have to be repaired at a repair yard you build.  Also you can build another type of relay that would enable you to hire a random bounty hunter to come and fight with you.  These bounty hunters would be in cannibalized ships, and be under AI control, only Fight as your ally.
