Hey guys i was wondering if you are gonna implement this ship in a future patch?  :whistling:

Maybe this one's special could increase the speed of every allied ship within medium range. :)

hmm, well I think that would only work if they used Warp Nacelles at impulse speed :whistling:

But I"m sure they will come up with something. I would like to see this ingame also

I tried to come up with something which would have at least something to do with the additional nacelles
Most of the speed/engines-special-stuff is already implemented anyway  :ermm:

FYI: It is the Melbourne Class.

Many people disliked the idea of implementing it because of the idea that the Federation has plenty of speedy ships. However, weapons that use its rather high intensity warpfield could be interesting. Especially when surging enemy warpfields causing them to overload and disable the engines for long periods of time.

Maybe create a static warpfield around an object protecting it for a time, but it can't move or shoot, neither can it be shot at.  it can, however repair itself.

maybe warp a photon through the enemy's hull :woot:

you know?  we need the constellation class...It could have the picard maneuver as a special weapon :woot:

that only makes sense against ships without sensors capable of seeing things without needing to rely on the slow (compared to high warp factors) speed of light.

we have seen modern (late tng era) ships of many races being able to scan in realtime over vast distances, so presumably they wouldnt have the issue of seeing double. they would see the ship move.

even if it worked and the enemy sees double they still could guess for a 50% chance of hitting something.

and most ships have rearing facing photons.

Which isn't actually unheard of. It has been done, they're not onlyjust for Warp travel.

I'd love the Melbourne-type in the game. Speed-boost would be kinda fitting on a 4-nacelle ship.

All the extra conduits for two redundant nacelle's would make a neat explosion if a rock or something got past the deflector (it would be unnecessarily fragile)

Special Ability:  Space Fireworks.

Gameplaywise this would be a nice feature, but it would turn my somach inside out to see that. There are just too hard reasons, that would make it completly illogic to be that way.

The melbourne class stands out for it's 4 Nacelles, which looks really cool but nacelles are made exclusively for warp features. As Fleetops only features impulse speeds (yeah, except of the WarpIn's) the additional nacelles will not affect any propulsion system; neither it's own, nor the systems of any vessel in range.

Professor J's comment  (  ) leaves out one critical advantage - redundancy. In Warp-Capable StarTrek - and we all know how damn often engines fail. A backup system for a fast escape in case main engines are disabled is most practical in an inauspicious combat. Perhaps it's predestined or a picard manouver, which, if nor for sensor fooling could at least help to avoid a huge volley of torpedos and alike. I could imagine special abilities in that direction.

Warp nacelles don't make warp speed, they make the warp field. That has impulse uses too, and has been used for non-warp uses before.

I can't quite remember what they were doing at the time, though.

Going by ingame animation, FO uses the Warp nacelles as part of the Sabre's HyperImpulse. That fits with the way the Warp field reduces the ships mass.

The warp nacelles can be used without moving at all. They tried that in Voyager to fry the systems a little bit and give the ship a fever, to wipe up a cold.

This got me to thinking, with all those extra plasma conduits I bet this thing could pump out one hell of a plasma cloud. Maybe that cloud could be a shield damaging or speed reducing AOE. Of course after using a special like that the Melbourne would probably be immobile for a short time.
